I'll be getting the book. For anyone who hasn't read Douglas Murray's "The Strange Death of Europe" yet, he was way ahead of the curve on this one, and although over a decade old, that book also is well worth reading. We seem to be passing some kind of threshold here, with a few isolated souls at the BBC actually recognizing that something has gone wrong, and with e.g. Rafe Heydel-Mankoo's recent response to the "Islamophobia" "blasphemy" rules on YouTube, and with Starmer's constantly sinking approval ratings. Maybe some of the idiots who voted for the Greens will start to wake up to wider implications as well.

Well said, I immediately thought of Douglas Murray’s ‘Strange death of Europe’ as well.

To that could be added Melanie Phillips book Londistan it’s a good 20 years old but she was far sighted in warning the British people what was to come.

Thank you.

Slightly thereafter, in 2012, a chap called Gavin Cooke published a book titled "Britain's Great Immigration Disaster." I hope Matt includes a bibliography in his new book (I don't think there was one in his book on higher education). It would be very helpful. However, Cooke's book seems pretty much spot on. And this is a number of years before the Boriswave... Douglas Murray's book, which is also superb, was published five years after Cooke's book in 2017 and doesn't mention Cooke... Still, not to worry. As Whitehead correctly observed in 1929, everything is really just a footnote to Plato anyway!

If you are interested, see the following review of Cooke's book:

"Anyone who kept a keen eye on the reckless policies of New Labour during the dark period of their terms in office will not learn anything new from this book but for those who perhaps took their eye off the political ball or believed the politically correct drivel and spin from New Labour ideologues during their incumbency this book is a real revelation.

Cooke informs his readers that between 1997 and 2010 5.2 million immigrants came into the U.K. and most of these immigrants came to England to settle. Just to give you a sense of the enormity of this mass influx these numbers represent more people entering the U.K. during the period 1997-2010 than people did between 1066 ( The Battle of Hastings ) to 1997! Just think about that! Cooke goes on to give a number of further disturbing statistics e.g. he states that 'In 2012 more than 84% of births in the London borough of Newham are to at least one foreign born parent' This of course is rapidly being replicated in all of the London boroughs where there are large immigrant, and in particular, Muslim populations. Cooke quotes the Labour MP Frank Field who argues that on current trends the U.K. population will be 70 million by 2028 unless immigration falls by 190,000 a year between now and then. Fat chance! These statistics are supported by Professor David Coleman, a lecturer in Population studies, who argues that whites will be a minority in Britain by 2075 if current demographic trends continue.

Cooke goes on to destroy some of the bogus arguments that New Labour used to support their reckless immigration policies, for example that immigrants are needed to pay for pensions, an obviously absurd argument because as Cooke points out immigrants get older too and they will need pensions themselves so who will pay for these? More immigrants! As a long term solution it is unworkable.

Cooke also points out what any GCSE economics student will tell you i.e. more people only make the economy bigger; they do not make its people richer. The measure of a growing and prosperous economy is the impact it has on the population. Does it make individuals better off? More people in an economy simply means a bigger economy and this means more demand for services e.g. welfare, housing, transport, the NHS and these represent costs which must be deducted from any increase in general tax revenues. Most immigrants from the Third World are on 'top up benefits such as working tax credits or housing benefit anyway so in no way make a contribution to the economy for e.g. 80% of Somalian's are welfare dependent and the vast majority unemployed so why do we need them?

I think that Cooke is at his best when he discusses the impact of Islamic immigration specifically. He demonstrates all too clearly the threat posed by Islam to the democratic way of life that exists in Britain. First he quotes the Labour Force Survey and the ONS (2009) which show that the Muslim population in Britain had grown by more than 500.000 to 2.4 million in just 4 years! He then references Migration Watch to demonstrate that the British Muslim population now accounts for 4.6% of the population. Differential Muslim birth-rates will ensure, along with continued Muslim immigration, that the Muslim population will grow faster than any other group in Britain. Why should this be a problem one might ask? Cooke give the answer: He shows that many Islamic schools teach Muslim pupils to hate the society that they are growing up in thus posing serious integration problems in the future; he outlines the cultural practices of Muslims that are incompatible with British cultural norms e.g. female genital mutilation and honour killings; he points out that Muslims through organisations like the MCB promote 'jihad by stealth.' He shows that as Muslim populations grow they become more aggressive in their demands and back these demands with violence or the threat of violence. He highlights the growing number of Muslim ghettos both in Britain and throughout Europe and shows that these ghettos are increasingly no go areas for the police; areas in which Islamic cultural norms are the dominant ones; not those of the host society. These areas are also rife with crime, prostitution and drug smuggling. It may seem a contradiction that these crimes can exist side by side with Islamic cultural norms but that's Islam for you!

Another Islamic cultural norm which seems to be taking a hold in European cities is that of rape! In Sweden and Norway Cooke points out that there has been a massive increase in rape by immigrants on indigenous women. For example he states that, 'Muslim immigration has brought what many call a rape epidemic to the streets of Oslo'. He further states that ; 'A police report in 2010 showed that 100% of rapes between strangers were committed by non-western immigrant males, 90% of their victims were native born Norwegian women. There is much more that I cannot cover here in this review on the dangers of Islam to Europe that Cook discusses but I strongly suggest that if you have not read the book that you do so.

The book deals with many other interesting and thought provoking topics such as water and food shortages, the bankruptcy of Britain and peak oil to name just a few. Cooke also points out that the future economic prospects for Britain are grim indeed and if Cooke is right in his analysis, and this reviewer has no doubt that he is, then Britain will not be able to generate enough growth to continue to provide pensions, welfare or jobs in the future. What then will we do with all of those immigrants from the Third World and the poorer parts of Europe that have arrived here in recent years? If the welfare support structures are no longer affordable how might these immigrants respond to this new period of austerity?

In the last section of the book titled 'What is to be done?' Cooke makes some suggestions as to how we might avoid disaster. We need to pull out of the ECHR and close all faith schools as it is here where Muslim children are taught to hate Britain and its people; the Kuffars and Christians. Cooke argues that Britain needs to make an immediate end to all immigration from fundamentalist Islamic nations like Pakistan and of course he is right, absolutely right. Unfortunately he then goes on to state that we can extend a welcome to the multi-ethnic democracies like India. I think Gavin that the people of this country have had enough immigration; how about no immigration? We really don't need anymore!

This is a great read and I would suggest everyone interested in these issues buy a copy. It certainly is a refreshing alternative to the politically correct drivel that gushes forth from our cowardly politicians. The author deserves credit for being bold and courageous."

It's his Classical Liberalism and pro NeoCon warmongering ( millions of refugees coming to the West ) that got us into this mess.

Peter Hitchens was on the same theme in 2018 with 'The Abolition of Britain from Winston Churchill to Theresa May'. However I tend to think it started with Asquith falling out with Lloyd George and the influence of Kier Hardy. Odd coincidence we have another labour Kier ruling over what could become the final suicide act of Labour and hopefully not of free democratic UK.

Hi Graham, yes Douglas Murray's books were ahead of the curve. I listened this morning to Rafe Heydel-Mankoo's response to the back door blasphemy law ....I found it deeply disturbing. Suggest others listen to Rafe's warning, best wishes Gordon.

Julie Preece's avatar

Very disturbing. The calm measured way that Rafe delivers this message adds gravitas. Reminds me of Churchill. Sadly we are incapable of fighting on the beaches… but we must never surrender. Bit cheesy but

Unfortunately it's Murray's Classical Liberalism and NeoCon wars ( millions of refugees ) that got us into this mess.

Unfortunately the idiots who voted for the Greens are unlikely to read it

I’ve read all Matt’s earlier books. Each is a compelling read as they achieve that rare accomplishment of being rich on content yet high on readability. This next one should carry the added experience of standing in a by-election in a seat moving from a Labour stronghold to a tight three way fight embodying political disenchantment with lifetime Labour faith and sectarian tension. And hopefully some constructive ideas on how the U.K. is rescued from its life support status.

You are brave to publish something as contentious as this Matt but I’m glad you have. As the saying goes ‘ bad things happen when good men say nothing’ so thank you for putting your head above the parapet. I will certainly be buying this book.

Thanks for standing in Manchester its a shame you did’t win. Some of it was down to disgraceful campaigning by the Greens but also the voters don’t understand what the Greens are all about. This video fron Talk TV, interviews a lady in the Bus Stop who voted Green to “control immigration”

https://youtu.be/2ffIzRr2gGY?si=1zibwlKO1_psCMap

Maybe some of the Voters are as thick as ………..

Lorraine Crawford's avatar

Just watched this video it's mind boggling people have no idea what they are voting for almost all those interviewed thought greens were brilliant and we're happy they won they are going to open the borders completely are these people for real has no one in gorton got a brain

That’s why democracy is fatally flawed!

Mfyffe's avatar

Much of it depends on the demos itself.

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to reading the book and hope that it will inspire many to wake up, stand up and be counted. As has been said many times - if you provoke an angry response then you have touched a nerve and are onto something!

Diane Whiteoak's avatar

I will buy that book as soon as it’s available as well as a couple for friends who don’t believe me about what is happening and why.

Penny Bartlett's avatar

Yes an uphill battle Diane. I have the same problem.

Diane Whiteoak's avatar

Even one of my sons think I am conned by conspiracy theorists. I bought him the book detailing it all but don’t think he’s even looked at it 🤦‍♀️

Laura Stewart's avatar

Ahh brilliant I can't wait get my hands on a copy and dive into it!

Lester Harris's avatar

Definitely will be joining my modest library!

It seems apparent to me that the vast majority are happy with the situation whereby we will lose our country otherwise why would the they vote for Labour and a significant majority vote Green at the last bye election? What we do have is a pretty uninformed and ignorant electorate - apart from those foreigners who should not vote and family voting where a very clear law is not applied because of 'cultural sensitivities'. Yes, I too will buy the book but what we need is not a reiteration of the problems but a solution to them. I hope the book will illuminate us all.

I fully agree. The part where I have to admit defeat, though, is in understanding how and why so many people seem to be eager to see their country fall apart. It cannot just be stupidity, can it? Perhaps Matt’s book will give me some help. Signed or unsigned it will be a thoroughly worthwhile read, I am sure.

Much, if not all of it, is due to the Marxist long march through the institutions over decades. When your schools, universities and media are under the firm control of lefties, children and adults are indoctrinated at every turn. It's sadly inevitable that when you're no longer taught how to think, you will go along unquestioningly with the current narrative.

Penny Bartlett's avatar

It saddens me that children are not taught to question. When teaching 20 -25 years ago we made good inroads in teaching children to 'question'. Various government policies since have clearly crushed this and hence, maybe, why social media has taken hold of young minds ......and many older ones too.

Anthony Mitchell's avatar

It certainly is stupidity or should I say naivety.

A relation , dyed in the wool labour voter . Started whinging and whining when he saw how much is taxes went up . What did he expect ? the plonker !

Lorraine Crawford's avatar

I think every Brit should be made to read the book then they might have a clue about what is going on and not being kept in the dark and fed bullshit by those in government especially labour and the green party

Cass's avatar

Can’t wait to order the book!

Mrs Bucket's avatar

Sadly, books, however accurate and enlightening, are not the tool to win this battle. That's why the ascendent Leftist-Islamist approach is the complete opposite.

Celtic Bhoy's avatar

Looking forward to reading it, Matt.

Such a book could not come at a better time. Many of us have been wondering if it’s too late to stop the rot, while clinging on with both hands to the desperate hope that we can still save our families, communities and the country from the malign forces ranged against us. Matt, you are a hero for what you do.

edward barrows's avatar

This book will surely be welcomed by all British patriots who have, every week, every month and every year experienced our once proud nation slowly being destroyed by unscrupulous foreign interference and by our own pathetic, chickenhearted, ignorant, defeatist and undoubtedly in some cases treasonous politicians.

This will be a book crying out to be written and I wish it every success.

Andrew G's avatar

That’s exactly how I feel, every day there’s another kick in the teeth and a boot on the back of our necks.

Wendy Collins's avatar

Another brave move Matt in writing, publishing and driving the debate on these contentious topics; we are grateful to people like you who sacrifice popularity for the greater good.

I’ll look forward to reading an extract this weekend as I assume it will be in one of the 2 newspapers to which I subscribe.

Really looking forward to reading your book Matt. Did your experiences running for election and talking to the people confirm or alter your earlier ideas leading to rewrites or was it as you thought?
