All incredibly concerning, not least because so few people understand what is happening. We are now living through the end result of the long march through the institutions where left wing/ Marxist indoctrination has infiltrated every organisation, the MSM, education, govt depts etc etc all done slowly over decades so that people don't notice what is happening.

When I joined the Labour Party around 1980, they sounded much like Reform today. They were against mass immigration of cheap labour because of the pressure it put on the poorest- public services, housing and downward pressure on wages. Immigration was regarded as a right wing aim of big business.

The Overton window has shifted so far to the left and people haven’t noticed because it’s been gradual. Now we are being gradually boiled to be compliant sheep in the vision that Orwell or Huxley foresaw for us. Information must be kept from us in case we wake up. Well that’s our job fellow folk on here. Keep speaking, keep waking people up. And thanks Matt for giving us the tools to do it

Jean-Bernard Lasserre's avatar

I like your comment very much. We must absolutely refuse to be " compilant sheep" , we must resist the pressure that the Deep State puts on all of us to adhere to what Matthew calls " the narrative".

Created by the stealth of the Fabian Society, a wolf in sheep's clothing. Did you notice the Masonic handshake between the self crowned "King of the North" and Lindsay Hoyle? They are not even hiding their contempt for us now.

Tenaciously Terfin's avatar

Yes indeed.

I didn’t see that! Any idea where it can be found. And contempt is the right word. Everything we want, they despise,

Evola's Sunglasses's avatar

Myself, I would say the Overton Window has moved Liberal not Left.

I think the Liberal paradigm has destroyed both Left and Right.

We are probably further away from workers control of the means of production than ever.

Graham L's avatar

"Workers control of the means of production." Is that supposed to be a desirable outcome? To whom? Kids who haven't yet learned what happened in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe and Communist China?!

Evola's Sunglasses's avatar

I'm pointing out that's Socialism aim. Do we live under Socialism or Liberalism is the question I making

Seb Thirlway's avatar

"I think the Liberal paradigm has destroyed both Left and Right."

Yes. Partly by constructing and narratively deploying constant crises, from each of which the actual revolutionary potential* is carefully extracted and thrown away - like caffeine from decaf coffee - in favour of yet more consolidation of power upwards.

* I don't particularly care whether any reader is "Left" or "Right" - we need a revolution of some kind, and maybe all together we can make it work...

Tenaciously Terfin's avatar

Evola, For some reason my reply to you has been hidden at the bottom.

Evola's Sunglasses's avatar

I'll just add, I look on the Left as just useful idiots. Not as the power structure.

Which is Liberal Capitalism, which has created an oligarchy. And post 1945 Liberal Capitalism has driven the open borders Globalisation project in the interests of international finance capitalism.

The system can contain the Left as it uses up its energy to push Trans, Feminism open borders, Antifa/ culture wars ect and has moved away from offering a coherent economic alternative to Liberal Capitalism.

+i don't view Feminism, immigration, Trans issues as Left issues but just the normal out come of late stage Liberalism.

🍺

Tenaciously Terfin's avatar

Fair enough. We’re on the same page, it’s just our definitions are slightly at odds- a common problem. And I agree about the useful idiots, they are the enablers of big global powers trying to control us and they just can’t see it.

Evola's Sunglasses's avatar

Got it. what I'd say thats closer to the Frankfurt School than what Marx actually wanted.

I think Marx would be gutted looking at todays Liberal degenerate Left.

Best wishes and thanks for your Intresting comments as always.

Hope your having a cold beer.

Tenaciously Terfin's avatar

Yes I agree about the Frankfurt School and you’re right about what Marx would think. The degenerate left would be a good name for them.

Thanks for your kind comments Evola. I’m on fizzy water but will probably progress. 🍻 cheers.

The left narrative will continue. I see Purnell will be Burnham chief of staff. Purnell left the BBC to go into parliament as a Labour MP, was a minister under Brown, left government to go back to the BBC and now leaves the BBC to go back into politics for the Labour Party, as chief of staff to the Manchester Messiah. The BBC/Labour party merry-go-round can be relied on to get their narrative out. What a corrupt institution the BBC is.

Truly shocking the level to which we have descended.

It's exactly like the old Soviet Political Correctness - Comrade, what you have said may be factually correct, but it is not politically correct - it does not suit the ruling parties narrative. We're there.

This morning, I watched Michael Button on YouTube describing the state of Anochracy that occurs just before a descent into civil war. There were so many comments pointing-out parallels with the UK.

"This, I think, is why so many people feel they are living in two countries at the same time. One that is interested in reality; another that is interested in warping the representation of that reality. "

We "dirty, unvaccinated, far-Right COVID-denying granny-killers" have been aware of this for 5 years now. We remember one of the bull****-Narratives around at that time: "Once we get through this COVID crisis, it'll be sunshine and rolling meadows and skipping lambs and rivers of beer for everyone".

Well, that didn't happen, did it? Instead, the Narrative techniques which were first field-tested in 2020 are now being applied wholesale to everything.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the most obvious Narrative story this week: the Terrible, Novel, Unprecedented Heat, which is _obviously_ so hideously dangerous that People are Going to Die Everywhere (unless saved by Wise Government Advice and Action), which is _obviously_ caused by Climate Change, which can obviously only be avoided by sticking a (n electric, natch) turbocharger onto Milliband's Net Zero lunacy.

Now, I have no problem listening and responding like a human to any particular person saying "God, it's hot.... I can't bear it... wish it would cool down...". But I refuse to listen to this obviously coordinated licensing of mass hysteria about a (no doubt momentary) wave of hot weather. This is how Narratives cunningly embed themselves into normal human interaction.

Another cunning trick the Narrative has up its sleeve is a version Thatcher's TINA: the only alternative to the Narrative, we are supposed to conclude, is some dismal Hobbesian Mordor of anarchy and hatred: nasty, brutish and short. Question the Narrative, or even step outside it, and - supposedly - you're well on the way to Bosnia c. 1992.

This is not true. The one thing the Narrative desperately attempts to devalue, by subsuming it as if only it could produce it, is civic (and civil) society.

The Narrativists put me in mind of Rammstein's Angels: far from us, lonely, clinging onto stars, terrified of falling to earth.

Britain has TWO groups, those who USE THEIR OWN BRAIN and those WHO ACCEPT WHAT OTHER BRAINS TRAIN THEM TO THINK. The result is the Uniparty control, the cure is for everyone to use their brains.

Once again a well writing article that correctly brings together what ‘The State’ is doing within the UK. Many people are aware of this and are concerned. Most will have read the ‘1984’ novel and have identified its contents with what is happening here in UK, and in the EU as well. One just wonders how much more the ordinary, law-abiding member of the General Public will tolerate what is happening, before taking matters into their own hands. Oh yes, there have been learned discourses of such happening, but the volatility of such happing has not been widely shared. Reasons for such are understandable but the current political farce must be adding fuel to the embryonic flame(s).

Does anyone on here actually believe this can be reversed or overturned any more? I certainly can't see it happening - this is now so deep-rooted and the vast majority remain distracted by the football, the rubbish on their social media feeds and the need to keep a roof over their heads.

I am also sure that Reform will be unable to do anything but disrupt and slightly delay the direction of travel. Are there any peaceful ways to defeat this? Civil war would seem to be the only option but the youth of today aren't mentally strong and certainly wouldn't stand up and fight to remove our political system and institutions. Make no bones, we are in a war with the elites and we are facing a crushing defeat.

Tenaciously Terfin's avatar

I agree, things do seem to be beyond repair. The people in power are holding all the cards.

In August 2024 Two Tier called all the chiefs of the police force and gave them their orders, then took over the Judiciary, then at a press conference afterwards brazenly laid out his plans for "swift justice" long prison sentences for the "far right" protesters and anyone posting on line things which he didn't like.

He said he would use facial recognition to stop people from travelling..... absolutely unheard of in the UK.

Them Two Tier and Lord Herpes arranged and signed off emergency prosecutions over the weekend of Lucy Connolly, who only had a post up for four hours.

The Unite the UK rally warranted a special broadcast by Two Tier from his downing St bunker warning people he was mobilising thousands of police, helicopters, and his favourite facial recognition to cover the march.

Not a word about the Pro Palestine hate march taking place at the same time.

The UK is getting more and more like China or Russia with our UK hating communist government, don't expect Burnham to change any of this.

Dear Matthew,

As usual, your in-depth analysis of the " narrative State" is very useful for us to understand the secret workings of what Mathieu Bock-Côté " le totalitarisme sans le Goulag" ( totalitarianism without the Gulag).

Thank you.

Across The Western World, The Emperor's New Clothes Is Meeting 1984: In The Emperor's New Clothes, the collective deception is shattered not by a rival politician or a sophisticated courtier, but by a child who has no stake in the system and simply uses his eyes. In 1984, Winston Smith realises that the only hope for a human future lies with the "Proles"—the ordinary, politically disengaged working class who live outside the Party’s psychological conditioning and maintain a grip on basic reality. By calling for an immediate election and mobilising historically disengaged voters, populist movements are attempting to replicate the ending of Andersen's fable. When 'citizen politicians' bypass the Westminster bubble and validate the public's financial and social hardships, they are playing the role of the child. They are shouting that the establishment has no clothes, exposing the entire technocratic system to a sudden, destabilising dose of reality. As Andy Burnham (the Great White Dope as I like to call him) enters No.10, with no money to spend and no means to make spending cuts, he will be faced with a juggling task that he is incapable of managing, just like his predecessor but, with slightly more personality.

I read "The Emperor's New Clothes" quite recently. It was even more relevant to our situation today than I'd expected. I'd heard the story by word of mouth, so I knew anyone who couldn't see the invisible cloth would be considered stupid. What surprised me in the original was anyone not "seeing" the cloth was not only stupid, but also unfit to do their job and would therefore lose it. An exact match for cancel culture! 👍

Deeply concerning but brilliantly summarised Matt, thank you for saying it.

My approach is that, if the state won't give us the truth.....we will cut out the middleman.

That is why X and Substack are so important.

That said, I notice government always mention and attack X, because it is an easy foe. Amongst the truth it is also an angry cesspit of noise and polarisation.

But what I find interesting is that they never talk about Substack! They never want to highlight it. Never want to promote it or mention it.

That is because it is such a high quality platform with people, such as yourself drawing attention to the things they don't want us to see, with a reasonable, measured, longer-form and data backed approach.

That's what we need, something that can't be discredited easily. Let's spread the word and mention it at every opportunity, especially on legacy media.

Excellent analysis, as always Matt, but very depressing. I sense that so many people are fed up that the dam might burst soon. I sincerely hope so. Burnham is more of the same, probably left of KS, and has never done anything productive in his life. The normal hypocrite. The political right has to unite quickly to change things.
