Exactly right Matt! There is ‘nothing but chaos and incompetence flowing out of No 10 Downing Street’. You think it can’t get worse, and then it gets worse. This government is an existential threat to our freedoms and our way of life.
Absolutely right, but there comes a time when ruthless put-downs of public protest will attract more forceable reactions, ultimately civil unrest if not war. The current government may impose all sorts of impediments to public expressions of concern - hatreds even - but it cannot survive, as history has shown time and again. That said that which follows may well be unlike that which was. That is why such a demonstrably change is being pursued by the Reform party that proposes common sense and robust solutions that Labour and the Conservative parties completely have failed to address, acting as if they are/were pursuing policies established by unelected foreign entities (often initiated and pursued by civil servants on ‘detached duty from HMG).
I suspect that the government clampdown on social media websites will frighten those sites into complying with its stupid hate laws and a lot of the outrage will slowly dissipate. After all, people have short memories and what they don't hear about they forget. This is no doubt what the government is hoping for. And it was only through social media that we learned about the rape gangs, Southport etc. in the first place. Had there been no social media, or a neutered one, few of us would ever have become aware of what was going on since few of us have seen any of this with our own eyes. I personally only notice that every day there are more brown and black people around speaking either barely comprehensible English or some other language and that, allegedly, is nothing to worry about.
That may be the case, but there are ways and means to circumvent such restrictions. People will certainly be more than well aware of the increasing loss of freedoms of speech and of action by this government and its tools. Social media will continue to resist, but only in this and similar European countries where such is at risk. As I stated earlier, resistance will escalate in equal measure, and the news of such will continue to be spread.
I hope you're right. The sooner something blows the better, while we are still a majority. The longer we leave it, the smaller our relative numbers. Also we are much older, again relative to the migrant cohort.
Not true. Many newspapers covered rape gangs extensively at the time. So it is inaccurate to state 'only through social media..we learned'
And when you say "brown and black people" speaking other languages...that allegedly is northing to worry about." do you mean it is something to worry about? If so, why?
Also you talk of 'stupid' hate laws. Those laws in part cover a violent crime, such as assault, murder, arson, vandalism, or threats to commit such crimes. They may also cover conspiring or asking another person or calling for others to commit such crimes, even if the crime was never carried out. oresukably you have no problem with that. or do you?
I have hope after watching Nigel on Youtube 'Britain is Lawless' He was brilliant! in fact they ALL were. Reform is recruiting excellent people with experience. I don't like GBNews casting doubt over what FRAKE said. She did appear on GBNews to clarify and made it clear that NO men would be put into female prisons. She also said that Trans are a small number and need to be dealt case by case. I think this was reasonable and she is just an advisor. Reform does not have a policy on this at present.
I'm not too sure why Vanessa Frake complicated a message that should have been simple. By saying that men in women's prisons was a question of risk posed rather than biological sex she probably alienated exactly the kind of person likely to vote for Reform, even though I'm sure many progressives who will never vote for Farage agreed. Still, Reform has another 4 years to get its policies straight.
It is ambiguous. The true believers in Gender Ideology think that trans women are women and so when they say no men will go into women’s prisons this is a semantic sleight of hand. I haven’t seen the Frake interview on GB News so I am unsure exactly what she meant and I am not about to throw the baby out with the bath water but I think it would be a retrograde and unwise step for Reform to endorse a policy that allowed trans identified males in women’s prisons, case by case or otherwise. It feels like a misstep. For many it’s a dealbreaker. I will await more detail of Reform’s policy on this.
Same. I heard her interview and she said that there was no way that she would put men in with vulnerable women but that it would be cruel to put a man who had lived as a woman for years, in with men. She didn’t really clarify what she meant so I can only think that they might suggest separate units for trans identified men.
I hope so. Seems reasonable if that’s what she meant. I believe there are separate prison wings for TiMs already. I appreciate Reform is a work in progress but surely at this point, especially with the For Women Scotland ruling, this is a no brainer?
And yet according to the likes of James O’Brien the people protesting are more dangerous to women and girls than the men in the hotels. This is the ingrained mindset of so many leftie open door ideologues.
I’m pleased to see people waking up and protesting but they must keep it peaceful. The very thing that Labour wants is the excuse to bring in ever more draconian legislation and if the violence gets out of hand they’d have the perfect excuse to cancel elections. It’s what they want now that they’ve got their grubby hands on power. Orwell was so right.
Especially considering the horrendous news that keeps filtering out, (thanks to citizen journalists and people like Matt). I’ve been thinking about that poor 12 year old all weekend. And I’m so angry at the MSM, especially the BBC. What a disgrace it has become.
Indeed. And I’m also sickened by the apologists who make excuses by saying that criminality will be dealt with. How about girls don’t have to get their lives wrecked in the first place. Keep these monsters out of the country.
I agree. The child may not even have understood what was happening to her. I can barely imagine the terror she felt. Nightmares filled with that terror will haunt her for the rest of her life. I would actually be in favour of the death penalty for this horrendous crime.
Given that they routinely lie and dropship Antifa hooligans into the middle of peaceful protests I think the chances of them reporting fake violence is very high regardless of what happens.
More smearing of Nigel this morning, claiming that his opposition to state surveillance enables more Savilles. This from a Government that fought tooth-and-nail to prevent an enquiry into the Asian rape gangs, in order to satisfy their voter base. They are utterly despicable and disgust me.
She didn't say that exactly and GBNews is annoyingly casting doubt on it. Frake came on GBNews to clarify and she said that NO MEN will be put into women's prisons. She also said that the number of trans is small, but they have to be dealt with on a case by case basis.
I heard her on Times Radio and she said it would be on a case by case basis I agree: but I don’t want any men in women’s prison at all. If this requires provision for a 3rd space then so be it.
Not just their voter base it’s my impression there were Labour councillor facilitators, police and social workers involved. Thank goodness for the brave and tenacious Maggie Oliver.
Yes, I salute all the brave people who stand up to injustice. Remember, all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men (and women) to do nothing. Unfortunately, doing nothing is the easy option and it has allowed the evil of the violent far-Left to flourish.
I followed exactly the same path. I finally left Labour when Corbyn appointed Starmer to lead the fight against a democratic vote. Since then I have come to despise them more each day. I blame insidious self-righteous wokery.
O’Brien should be fired by Global Media but he brings in the listeners so he’s probably safe. I saw the post you’re referring to TT where he alleges that people demonstrating peacefully and posting here are more dangerous than fighting aged male migrants. Astonishing. There again his problems with alcohol are well documented so maybe that’s his excuse.
In a way he’s a good advert for the authoritarian left because he talks over and ridicules every alternative opinion. Not good for our blood pressure though!
It's straight out of the leftist manipulative playbook. Infuriate the people into civil disobedience, thus justifying the imposition of 'emergency powers' by which our democratic freedoms are revoked - cancel elections, shut down the spreading of 'misinformation' (i.e. anything critical of the government), freeze bank accounts, etc. You can see examples throughout history, from 1930s Germany to Trudeau's actions against the Truckers' Protest in Canada.
Exactly. It’s terrifying and incredible that things have deteriorated so quickly in the oldest parliamentary democracy. Don’t think we can call ourselves that any more.
I'm looking forward to keeping it peaceful and cheerful on September 13th. I would like nothing more than to perform a happy conga with likeminded Brits and to tunelessly sing the first verse of Rule Britannia at the top of my voice with thousands of other ethnic countrymen and women.
Completely agree and stand with you Matt . The most chilling things for me about these peaceful demonstrations is that it has revealed the extent to which our media, through choice or coercion I don’t know, censor our news. GB News excepted, there is little or no coverage of the many demonstrations that have taken place over the last several weeks , and little effort to address the reason they are happening . Just label them far right and BAD . The statistics of child abduction , assault and rape are racking up, but the reality is , for each of these girls and their families their lives have been ruined . How is a 12 year old child to get over being abducted half strangled and raped by two men . I can’t imagine her terror and trauma . How are her distraught parents to help her through this? It must not be brushed under the carpet , it must not be normalised, the horror must not be suppressed in the cause of a mirage of “community relations” that does not exist .
I am proud of the people who have peacefully taken to the streets , I have attended one such peaceful protest myself in my locality so far . Can’t stand by and watch my fellow citizens do it for me, I can’t hear about these little girls and pass by on the other side of the street
Sam: No, its just the start. Antifa's aim is to escalate all unrest into violence and they certainly succeeded in the USA. There, the Biden government who supported them banned the use of CS gas so the forces of law and order are rourtinely overwhelmed. I wonder if the police can use it here?
I want to see RAPE CRISIS and other Women and Children's safety groups with their Banners protesting alongside the pink ladies. This would STOP the Far Left Agitators and embarrass them for ALL to see.
Ordinary people each have a vote and collectively they will reshape our political landscape. Incompetent, self-serving and arrogant elected representatives and civil servants will be swept aside. They have been given their opportunity to deliver our social contract and failed. Enough is enough.
Yes but we have another 4 years of damage before then and God knows what a lamentable state the country will be in by then with this incompetent Labour lot. Actuallly they are more than incompetent they are criminally stubborn in refusing to serve their people.
One shudders to think what else may soon come to light by way of shocking, shameful and grossly incompetent revelations. At the same time though, the end of all this nonsense and shameless lying to the public must be coming soon. The greatest culprits in all of this are the legacy media in my opinion. Time and again they deliberately lie and gaslight their viewers and readers. The worst culprit of all in the UK being the BBC which is now not even a shadow of its once highly respected self.
We have the same problems here in Australia where the MSM, led by the Australian Broadcasting Commission (we call it Their ABC), is uniformly leftist in everything it says and does. More and more people are now realising that they have been lied to on a daily basis by TV presenters and print journos.
Who was it who said everything the left touches eventually turns to ashes?
So do I, Jim McCubbin, but Sky News is on pay TV in Australia. Sadly it does not reach the ‘average punter’
With regard to The Ashes; during The Voice campaign in 2023, which sought to divide our nation by race, every single professional sporting code in Australia (along with big business, academia and every State Government) was doing all they could to convince Australians they should vote Yes. They voted No by a clear majority. The sporting codes, in particular, have egg on their faces for their blatant politicisation of sport in Australia.
Thank you, James, that's useful information regarding Sky News that I was not aware of.
I was aware that The Voice campaign did not go as expected by the State Government and I never cease to be amazed at the alignment of so many sporting bodies with 'progressive' and 'woke' practices, often to the disgust of the punters but you have further enlightened me, for which I am grateful.
I do keep a close eye on Australian developments as I have a lovely daughter who lives there and I note that, like Canada (to say nothing of the UK), there seems to be a determined perverse persistence by elected authorities and individuals to be at odds with the ordinary folks and the happy productive lives that they would like to live in your wonderful country.
Jim, we are in all sorts of trouble here as you obviously are in the UK. The same factors are the cause of our problems here: Climate Change and net zero, excessive immigration, acute housing shortage, impossibility of young couples buying a home, rampant wokery about all the usual issues. And, like your situation in Britain, it has all been bought on by both sides of politics singing to the same agenda.
Wonderful also to see marchers in their hundreds, marching through central Manchester, all waving Union or St George flags and singing at the top of their voices…’Rule Britannia - Britains never, never, never shall be slaves’. A true parade of pride and anger. All peaceful - but a potent message to Starmer and his cohorts.
Italy’s PM has just had her plan of dealing with excess illegal migrant numbers into Italy has been put down by the European Court of Justice, …. This is the court that Starmer signed us back up to last month. So now appears both ECHR and ECJ against reducing and dealing with invasion so must be paid up members of the globalists.
Matt Goodwin is right. We are not only heading toward civil unrest, we are already in it!
Something is changing across the country. It’s not political in the traditional sense. It’s human. It's parents. It’s pensioners. It’s daughters. And it’s the sound of a long-ignored majority realising that no one is coming to fix this for them or rescue them!
As Goodwin notes, these protests — from Epping to Waterlooville — are not the product of radical groups. They are a spontaneous, deeply British eruption of disgust. People are angry because they should be. Because the state has failed them.
They’ve watched councils hand out grants for gardening classes while cutting bin collections. They’ve seen migrants housed in comfort while their friends and family queue at food banks.
They’ve read of 12-year-old girls being attacked , then watched police cover it up.
And when they ask questions, they’re told they’re racist!
But a country cannot run like this. The more the state tries to censor the truth, the more corrosive the resentment becomes.
This summer is a test.
Not just for Labour. Not just for the police.
But for the nation itself.
Britain is now facing systemic failure across every axis of national life: borders, housing, safety, speech, trust. And the gap between governed and governing has never been wider.
The Quiet Centre was created precisely for this moment.
We are a civic blueprint project to restore order, truth, and trust in a country being torn apart.
We agree with Matt: this cannot continue. But fury alone is not a strategy. We need structure.
That’s what we’re building.
Matt, if you’re reading this — reach out. The time for warning is ending.
The Quiet Centre has stirred with a rumble of disquiet, an excellent analytical accompaniment to Matt's powerful article, and expressed with patient measure, a cool but trenchant call for an awakening of integrity and a constructive answer to today's perplexities.
As ALWAYS Socialist Utopian religion turns into dystopian repression when the square peg they are trying to ram into the round hole refuses to go in and then turns to violent repressive measures. YES history does repeat itself don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
When obscenely morally bankrupt politicians, and our police, are more concerned about silencing the peoples voice than protecting children they have no right to our trust or our respect. Where is their anger and concern about a 12 yr old girl being raped by two illegal immigrants? They are the lowest of the low.
By the way did anyone here know that the Government have a mobility unit watching how many times we go abroad? The fourth visit in a year earns you an investigation...
Absolutely Lesley. The rage I feel about what is happening to those children! Twelve years old, and now potentially a ten year old. They are just little girls! And the government’s response? Censor those protesting.
You and the vast majority your supporters Matt believe bough is enough and it has to stop. But how? Peaceful protests result in a more authoritarian, draconian government. The more protests there are, the less people are likely to protest after protestors are arrested, charged, lose their jobs. So how can we accelerate the end to this, peacefully and legally of course?
Look at Cage International joining with Palestine Action and the way they are trying to subvert the rule of law and policing. The police should not allow them to protest - after all PA is a proscribed terrorist group and CA is also dodgy aimed at subversion.
Stopping illegal migration (and legal migration from places like Pakistan and Afghanistan) will not be enough to save our women and children. Mass deportations must follow.
“… Labour government are pushing the United Kingdom into a dark and dangerous place”. Matt, it is plain as the nose on your face that this should be “… have pushed ...”
I’m 77 years old and lived through all the 1970’s but I have never seen anything on the scale of what we have now. There is no doubt in my mind this is an absolutely deliberate tactic by the ‘Uniparty’ in their push towards totalitarianism. Look at all the signs: The Climate Hoax and the ‘Green’ insanity that is justified by it … the ‘Covid’ Hoax where the Uniparty locked us in our homes and coerced millions into having a dangerous and improperly tested injection … the destruction of fiat money and the drive towards CDBC’s allowing total control of your money and how you spend it … the censoring/monitoring of social media to catch ‘extremists’ like Lucy Connelly …
This isn’t incompetence, these are deliberate acts of harm against the population.
Yes, surely this situation cannot stand? The idea of a government with ‘common sense’ and ‘robust solutions’ is balm to my soul!
I suspect that the government clampdown on social media websites will frighten those sites into complying with its stupid hate laws and a lot of the outrage will slowly dissipate. After all, people have short memories and what they don't hear about they forget. This is no doubt what the government is hoping for. Good points. Will the Future British Army field a Brigade of Muslims, on par with the Brigade of Ghurkhas?
Hmm, highly doubtful.
Russia was a big country with zero social media in 1917 - but people still worked out what was going on then!
Christ! Comparisons with the Russian Revolution are supposed to reassure me? Look how that turned out! Even so, I take your point.
You forget about Trump and Vance. There is no way they will allow Us Tech corporations to be censored
Even US tech companies working in the UK have to abide by UK law.
Don’t be too certain of that. Vance is an acolyte of Thiel.
Everyone should sign 'Repeal the Online Safety Act' petition.parliament
On your suggestion I have just signed it.
Not true. Many newspapers covered rape gangs extensively at the time. So it is inaccurate to state 'only through social media..we learned'
And when you say "brown and black people" speaking other languages...that allegedly is northing to worry about." do you mean it is something to worry about? If so, why?

Totally agree Tenacious. It did my heart good to see those women, all dressed in pink, protesting at Canary Wharf. So wholesome.
Especially considering the horrendous news that keeps filtering out, (thanks to citizen journalists and people like Matt). I’ve been thinking about that poor 12 year old all weekend. And I’m so angry at the MSM, especially the BBC. What a disgrace it has become.
The BBC is unfit for purpose now.
Agreed, that poor girl has payed for the Governments outrageous incompetence. It's criminal.
Indeed. And I’m also sickened by the apologists who make excuses by saying that criminality will be dealt with. How about girls don’t have to get their lives wrecked in the first place. Keep these monsters out of the country.

I’ve since read a description of what happened to her, it’s grim. 🤬
Rape Crisis and other women and children's safety groups need to join the peaceful protesters
Yes, we really need a mass movement of concerned citizens. The govt isn’t going to protect us, quite the opposite.
Given that they routinely lie and dropship Antifa hooligans into the middle of peaceful protests I think the chances of them reporting fake violence is very high regardless of what happens.
Exactly
More smearing of Nigel this morning, claiming that his opposition to state surveillance enables more Savilles. This from a Government that fought tooth-and-nail to prevent an enquiry into the Asian rape gangs, in order to satisfy their voter base. They are utterly despicable and disgust me.
I agree but am disappointed by Reform’s new Justice Advisor’s comments that some trans men should be housed in women’s prisons.
She didn't say that exactly and GBNews is annoyingly casting doubt on it. Frake came on GBNews to clarify and she said that NO MEN will be put into women's prisons. She also said that the number of trans is small, but they have to be dealt with on a case by case basis.

When challenged on GB News last night she appeared to be squirming. Perhaps she now regrets her rash comments.
It was surprising to see Farage when asked about this wriggle out of it by saying he’d never worked in a prison etc
Let’s hope Vanessa (and Reform) are now clear on their policy on this (and it’s no men in women’s prisons, spaces and sport).
Not just their voter base it’s my impression there were Labour councillor facilitators, police and social workers involved. Thank goodness for the brave and tenacious Maggie Oliver.

I think Brexit derangement syndrome addled his brain years ago.
Yes. If a caller wants to whip him into a frenzy just say you voted leave! The guy is unbelievably rude (even he admits that) and is a disgrace.
In a way he’s a good advert for the authoritarian left because he talks over and ridicules every alternative opinion. Not good for our blood pressure though!
The same is true of some of the lefties imported to bring balance to the panel discussions on GB News.
Exactly! Operation ‘let them speak’ is doing our job for us.
He has a warped sense of reality!
It's straight out of the leftist manipulative playbook. Totally agree. Maybe Pink should be our symbol of Resistance?
I'm looking forward to keeping it peaceful and cheerful on September 13th. I would like nothing more than to perform a happy conga with likeminded Brits and to tunelessly sing the first verse of Rule Britannia at the top of my voice with thousands of other ethnic countrymen and women.
👍that’s if it still goes ahead now that TR has been arrested. They’ll do anything to shut him up. We all need to be TR.

I do agree with your comments, although it does take a leap of faith to concur with the hope/expectation that the truth will soon prevail.
Integrity is a word the value of which must be increasing in proportion to its rarity in the MSM.
I do like the Australian Sky News team of presenters, including the excellent Erin Molan and the lovely Rita.
Daring and provocative to conclude your contribution with something as divisive and contentious as The Ashes
So do I, Jim McCubbin, but Sky News is on pay TV in Australia. Sadly it does not reach the ‘average punter’

Cometh the day cometh the man - your finest article yet
Wonderful also to see marchers in their hundreds, marching through central Manchester, all waving Union or St George flags and singing at the top of their voices…’Rule Britannia - Britains never, never, never shall be slaves’. A true parade of pride and anger. All peaceful - but a potent message to Starmer and his cohorts.
This has been coming for decades. Not just here but across all of the West/ the Global American Empire.
These issues should of been addressed decades ago. The rise of the BNP back then should of been the catalyst for our elites to change direction.
But they went for destroying the BNP and just continuing on down this civilisational destroying route.
All Liberal Democracies across the West are heading in the same direction.
Liberal Democracy has been a complete and total failure at saving our people, nations and Western Civilisation.
It's highly unlikely we can stop the balkanization of Western Civilisation now without mass deportations.
The Left v Right containment paradigm needs to end and ethnic English people will need their own political representation.
Particularly as the demographics get worse and worse and worse.
This is the problem with having a second rate human rights lawyer with a human rights lawyer AG in positions of govt.
That's a very good point.
What I'd say about Meloni is she is actually increasing legal migrant labour. I just Googled it to double check.
She has been another slopulist letdown unfortunately.
I look forward to hearing more.
Need to play them at their own game. We need RAPE CRISIS and women and children's safety groups with credibility to JOIN PEACEFUL PROTESTERS.
As ALWAYS Socialist Utopian religion turns into dystopian repression when the square peg they are trying to ram into the round hole refuses to go in and then turns to violent repressive measures. YES history does repeat itself don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Yes it does but not in exactly the same form so always be prepared for the unexpected.
Well said, Matt.
There is something rotten in Downing Street.
Cass, a 12 and now a 9 year old?
These savages should be imprisoned then deported, no appeals!!!
I agree absolutely!
RAPE CRISIS and other women and children's safety groups MUST join the peaceful protesters.
I’d never heard of CI before your post.
Stopping illegal migration (and legal migration from places like Pakistan and Afghanistan) will not be enough to save our women and children. Mass deportations must follow.
They must
Keep speaking the truth Matt as unbelievable as it all is!
I agree
