Well said Matt. RIP Ann Widdicombe. A truly honest, conviction politician. One of very few in general but a total rarity on the left. As for the police- I despair.

There is far more intolerance on the left of politics than the right but maybe it’s time we fought that narrative. It’s born of decades of leftie indoctrination stemming from the Fabian Society. Years of the left claiming the moral high ground, sneering and abusing anyone with a different opinion has left people on the right squirming and on the defensive. Isn’t it time for the right to fight back positively with evidence of the good that has been done for society and that there’s nothing good about putting the entire world before your own people. It’s time the right were loud and proud. And in terms of the next election - our last hope, we need to give people hope and a positive reason for voting.

Btw, you and Michelle were brilliant on Dewbs and Co last night. The left hasn’t got a leg to stand on.

They were indeed! I sometimes think Michelle needs protection !

How do you reduce resentment as capitalism gives the Productive the prizes?

Prosperity creates an environment where mendicancy can be oversupplied, causing the recipients to lack a real sense of the truth about scarcity of resources.

The changes to the state pension provisions will not be brutally short. It will be a drip, drip.

Funnily enough, akin to the original meaning of 'gaslighting' except the perpetrator does it to themselves (as a society).

Oh, and have a nice "right-wing extremist threat to Muslim event" story up your sleeve to deploy at about the same time as announcing the left-wing extremist aspect to Miss Widdecombe's murder.

Yes, and what a pathetic story it was. Old men flying a drone over a terrorist-sympathiser event...

This event was truly an outrage, with which I am still struggling to come to terms. What must have been the horror of her final moments haunts me. The depth of contempt I feel for anyone that could perpetrate, support, or indeed celebrate such a cruel and wicked attack on a defenceless old lady, in her own home, is bottomless. Those on the left, including at the top of the Labour party, have branded Reform UK and its supporters as dangerous and divisive, slinging vile slurs in every direction, purely to protect their own positions. Yet, when a tragedy such as this occurs, suddenly we must all come together and dial down the rhetoric. The hypocrisy is genuinely staggering. Only in the deluded minds of the ideologically captured, does it make sense that it is those who pose the threat that need protecting.

Nice memories and reflection, I hope Ann’s faith finds her in a better place.

Morning Matt, I'm still trying to get my head around this. How could anyone carry out such a dreadful attack on an elderly lady. All one can hope is that she is in the arms of the Lord as she would have believed. RIP Ann. Please stay safe in your quest to save our Country.

One of your best pieces, Matt, and charged with the emotion which, as you say, Ann was so good at threading through her speeches. When it comes from the heart it hits home. We join you in your sorrow at the loss of a great lady.

AW was a courageous woman - a British Battleaxe. Matt, your remarks are spot on.

I remember Nigel saying if he wasn’t elected next , someone would emerge that would make him look like a pussycat . Those revelling in the violence and vitriolic intolerance of the left would do well to remember that tides always turn and Karma is a bitch .

RIP Ann. A wonderful woman and a real big beast of politics . Her legacy and belief in Reform must continue .

i think that what is happening now is that the Left cannot win the argument so they attempt to stifle free speech and attack those like Farage and others who are offering an alternative to left wing politics. Nobody else is offering that and the Conservatives spectacularly failed to offer this alternative. We can see this happening all around us now.

They were very quick to announce the killer was a 'White Man' - until to their horror, he turned out to be 'the wrong type of White Man'

Utterly disgraceful. And also, it's practically impossible to drive from Rotherham (edit) to Where Ann lived in 3 hours - especially in that car.

Penelope Beck's avatar

It’s Rotherham not Rochester.

Sam's avatar

Sorry my mistake.

The point still stands though. It's an impossibility - especially in that shit heap of a car he had

A superb article. Thank you for expressing so clearly what needs to be said. It is vital that these issues, the real issues, are brought right to the fore of the debate, otherwise the poison that is affecting our politics and our society will never be expelled.

Sorry for your loss. Raw grief apparent in your words.

Matt,

your post was such a heartfelt piece , thankyou. We all feel the tragic loss Anne's murder has left in our hearts.

The Hard Left are truly vile people, aided and abetted by the lawfare introduced by the Uniparty over the last 20 years.

Of course Ann is in heaven - but we the U.K. have taken our eyes of the Bible - it’s old fashioned, it’s irrelevant no it’s not - we would do well to read Chronicles 7. 14. It states that if people who belong to God humble themselves, pray, and ask for forgiveness, He will listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land. The U.K. has fallen can it be repaired? Very much doubt it.

Too true. From being a strong Christian nation in the recent past, sending missionaries into all the world with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the UK is itself now a mission field. These are the days when they call evil good and good evil. Churches are empty, mainly older people faithfully attending. Some churches are trampling and twisting God's word to make themselves relevant to the wokery. It's a spiritual problem and the future looks grim. The safest place to be is on the Lord's side.

May the Lord bless and keep you, Matt.

Chrissie's avatar

So right - I was in North Point Alliance church Hong Kong in January. The minister asked for all missionaries going to the U.K. to see her - being nosey I asked what they were doing? Preaching the gospel to Manchester, London and Liverpool because your country needs Jesus. I said didn’t we used to do that to your country? How times have changed. And yes I am fed up of vicars watering down the word of God.

What I can’t get my head around, is the staggering cowardice of the perpetrator. A defenceless elderly woman in her own home attacked because she holds a different opinion. This has to be a turning point - not for the deranged left, who have no moral core, but for those in the middle who have yet to realise what Reform are trying to achieve. Next ‘they’ will continue to try to thwart the election of Reform (Ed Davey etc). It didn’t end well before. All courage and support to those who are fighting for this country.

David Boyd's avatar

There is a moral vacuum on the Left. Being largely atheist, there is no moral underpinning to their lives. While those on the Right are heavily influenced by Christian and Jewish teachings, there is no Ten Commandments and scripture which supports the Left’s world view. The ends therefore justify the means: the death of someone who opposes the aim of a global socialist world is another step of progress towards their goal. The fact that it involves the murder of a 78-year old woman in her own home is by the by.

Christopher Neville's avatar

Your point on there being a lack of moral underpinning on the left is so true. I am not a practising Christian, but I believe that the country needs to have Christian values at its core, with Christianity as our state religion, in order to give the country the moral compass, values and beliefs that we need to unite us.
