Apart from government, who we now realise struggle to keep on top of various challenges, my present concern lies with the power of the church and its naive leaders who don’t really realise they are being played by outside forces. What to do about it is another matter!
The established church at the national level (but not always at the local level) has become hopelessly progressive and theologically apostate, and is a busted flush.
But you're right. This witless empty shell of a national church is used by the political class to sanctify their woke policies. And the useful idiots of Archbishops simply parrot the latest progressive liberal line fed to them by Home Office mandarins or by the BBC.
I've been saying for some time that National Conservatives ought to have a policy to disestablish the CofE in order to thereby destroy the Church's residual cultural weight.
It would then have no more political clout than, say, the Baptists or the Catholics and it could cluck away its politics into its empty echo chamber to its heart's content. No one would be listening.
I remember listening to you talking after Brexit as one of the sane voices out there, so it is my pleasure to support your work.
Luxury Belief Class is a excellent definition of the uncosted posturing of our "betters" - Ed Dutton of The Jolly Heretic argues that this is a part of resource-signalling amongst the elite, so you're far from alone in your approach!
Matt you really are a lighthouse of academic reason in the rough seas of activism and relativism. I live in Scotland which is at the bleeding edge of woke authoritarianism. Whilst many social scientists know what’s going on and chose to hide it or downplay it you put factual analysis of the state of the real state of Britain right out there, I have emailed you with an idea on how we can amplify the impact. We need a virtual counter academy to challenge the disastrous, divisive policies we are being subjected to by the bubble of self-absorbed mediocrities who lead us.

Thanks for your efforts to stem the ever growing woke culture and spread some common sense views. (Sadly not very common amongst the Political/Media classes) During my time involved in local politics I often felt like I was swimming against a torrent of Left wing elite propaganda, particularly expoused by the Media. Your substack eloquently allows us to leap the Dam. My centre position taking in left and right opinions were sometimes attacked more than those on the right. Although I can understand your desire to emigrate, please stick with us.👏👍
