Absolutely spot on. Why do people deny October 7 as a “Hamas thing”?? It was a cold bloodied massacre. They broke the cease fire.
Why don’t the politicians and all the lefties and the pro Palestine people ask themselves “why don’t the neighbouring Muslim countries take refugees?” The answer is simple. They do not want Hamas. They know the Palestinians are trouble.
So why on earth are we even contemplate having them come here regardless of the terms of a visa?
The do-goodie lefties have no idea what they will bring down on us.
I for one will never cover up, never subscribe to sharia. I am a Christian and proud of it!
Sarah, unlike you I am not a religious person, but nor am I an atheist. I do believe that Christian values are vitally important to western societies like Britain. I hate the way Christians are denigrated in our popular culture and discriminated against by our Sharia police and other institutions. I recently complained (in vain) to a local cinema about a "comedy" film with an extremely offensive line about Jesus on the cross, pointing out that they would wouldn't dare include anything even a tiny fraction as offensive about Islam.
The 7th October attack was truly appalling. But Israel's attack on Gaza has been truly appalling too. When faced with competing versions of the truth, I try to look at the numbers:
* 7th October 1,200 killed
* Gaza 30,000+ killed
I try to judge one country's actions against another to be fair:
* Troubles in Northern Ireland, 90% killed by terrorists, 10% by security forces
* Israel and Gaza including 7th October and since, 90%+ killed by Israeli forces
I share your fears and everyone else here's fears about Islamist extremism. I hate the displays of Islamic dominance in London with Ramadan posters in Regent Street during Easter. But Palestinian Christians have also been the victims of Israeli violence. I just think we should try to be fair and impartial in a way that the liberal establishment never is.
Two things. Please feel free to provide alternative figures. Is the order of magnitude completely wrong or are we just quibbling about how many tens of thousands?
Tolerance and respect for other points of view are important. I'm all for that. But when people insult and denigrate everything we hold dear like family, country and our Christian heritage - I realise this sounds very old fashioned - then I think we need to push back. When say Islamists or the hard left are intolerant and aggressive and the rest of us just roll over, things go badly.
Even if we don't end up with them as refugees, we've still had to put up with a belly full of pro-Palestine 'protesting' on our streets and universities. There are two very different kinds of "protesting". There is the real brave kind that happens in places like Iran and Afghanistan and then there's the kind that happens in the West.....mostly spoilt-brat performative groupthink-type 'students' who should have no business being in an institution of 'higher learning' plus a few Islamist fanatics who should never have been allowed to get anywhere near our shores in the first place.
I watched her interview. She claimed to be a law student. What a shame her education has conveniently overlooked the fact that HAMAS are a proscribed terrorist organistion and her 'freedom of speech' is consequently a hate crime. After all if the Plod can hunt down an elderly lady for misgendering someone why should she get a free pass. Oops, just remembered Islam is a protected religion although homophobia, and death for apostasy are OK, for them, but not the rest of us.
We don't need to send any aid of any description to these jihadists. Their war was entirely self inflicted. It would be like sending aid to Germans during WW2. Quite remarkable that these politicians want to take in more of these people despite all the terrorist attacks they've perpetrated on our country.
Remember money is always the answer from socialists. No plan for making it, unlimited number of ways for redistribution especially if it involves gerrymandering. Perfect example is the London mayor’s efforts
It is amazing to me that you have had to write such a long and detailed essay about why Britain should not accept Palestinian refugees. There is a much simpler way to put it.
The Egyptians don't want them.
The Jordanians don't want them.
The Syrians don't want them.
The Saudis don't want them.
The [insert name of muslim country country here] don't want them.
Why on Earth should Britain want them?
Regarding the argument about only a few bad apples making all the trouble, the great Mark Steyn has pointed out that when it comes to things like antisemitism among muslims, there are two groups of people. There is a very small group that is constitutionally capable of going out and committing the actual horrific acts of terrorism. Then there is the much larger group, including your innocent women and children, who are not capable of committing the actual acts, but stand there and nod approvingly when someone else commits them. You do not want either of those groups within your borders.
Taking in Palestinians would be absolutely insane. We didn’t take in Wagner members who fell on the wrong side of Putin after last years coup attempt, we certainly shouldn’t do it for people who we can only assume are militantly anti-Semitic and support Hamas whole heartedly.
It infuriates me that the keys to our nation are in the hands of lunatics. How dare they invite ANYONE into our country without our consent. The electorate have made it clear time and time again that they do not want any more people arriving here to stay. So what if a 100, 000 soft headed lefties signed a petition - most of us do not want this.
Even savages can be victims, doesn't mean you should put them up in your house. Good luck removing indoctrination since birth, just by exposure to potential West they've been thought to hate since birth.
And it will happen, it's unavoidable, everything for that virtue clout, and there will be blood, eventually.
The war in Ethiopia's Tigray region is estimated to have killed 600,000 people according to the African Union. The UN says 8 million have been displaced by the war in Sudan with 230,000 new mothers and children facing death by starvation. In North West China approximately 1 million Uighur women are being forcibly sterilised (real genocide) with the men in 're-education' camps. Yet, our MPs want to privilege Palestinians and usurp the UN's role while Egypt, morally and practically, should be setting up refugee camps on the other side of the Rafah crossing but is refusing to do so and actually reinforcing their control of the Rafah crossing to stop Palestinians getting out (except for the few who can pay upwards of c £1500).
Palestinian civilans openly celebrated the mass murder of 7th October and cheered the butchers who brought back corpses of mutilated Israelis. Not all did but there is no way of knowing who supported Hamas and who did not, but choose a Palestinian refugee at random and it is more probable than not (about 70% more probable) that they are rabid anti-semites (as brought up to be, anti-semtism being taught in Gazan schools). Given the recent discovery of Hamas' plan to set up cells in Turkey and elsewhere in Europe it is not just that Palestinian refugees would more likely than not be neighbours we do not want but some will be terrorist sympathisers if not also actual terrorists.
It is not just that certain Labour and Green politicians never miss an opportunity for conspicuous compassion over the latest fashion in causes - and it is fashion given the number of conflicts around the world with greater humanitarian crises than Gaza - but some will be currying favour with constituents. The Sudanese and Uighur lobbies (if any exist in the UK) are tiny. Muslim anti-semitism (never called racism as too loaded a word) in the UK is far from tiny and increasingly vocal and militant to the point where MPs now have to have additonal security.
It is not just that some Labour and Green politicians signal their virtue yet again - I was surprised at how long it has taken them - but it is the silence from the rest that is telling. The pro-Hamas mobs on our streets like to say 'silence is complicity'. For once I agree.
I think we have enough actual and potential terrorists in this country already why invite yet more? Basically, the country has run out of resource by sharing the inheritance of our forefathers amongst the undeserving. It is shameful how we have squandered a hard fought for stable culture.
Is it time for MP’s pay to be directly linked to GDP per head pay them £1 million a year and link it to growth or shrinkage in the actual increase in wealth and well-being of the nation
An utterly mad idea. I see Biden has proposed something similar in the US.
Matt has persuaded me to vote Tory. With Rwanda apparently starting to work I've concluded I would rather keep a failing Tories than have a Labour government with even worse horrors.
Whatever the Tories failing they would never agree to a Palestinian visa scheme (and in the highly unlikely event they did, the backlash from Tory MPs and members would certainly lead to a U turn).
With a Labour government the pressure works the other way. Its the Labour members and backbenchers pushing the government into these crazy ideas.
The Palestinians are highly radicalised, dangerous and the last group of immigrants/refugees we need in the UK in order to satisfy the performative virtue signalling needs of the usual crowd of hand-wringing politicians and their hangers on.
They would go on to commit crime, welfare dependency and at worst case terrorism.
To say in one breath that refugees from Hong Kong, Ukraine, and Palestine are the same thing is to surrender to the narrative with which the left-wing elite is destroying the Western world, that the worst thing in the world is to be suspected of being a racist.
It's preferable to see explosions in the streets, brutal acts of murder in the name of jihad, and to wait helplessly for the demographic demise of the nation, but if you've experienced all this and aren't suspected of being a racist, then you've made an amazing deal.
So the Home Office have revoked Dana Abuqamar‘s visa but I note that they haven’t got her out of the country yet. Her legal team are contesting it. I wonder who is paying for them. Hmmm, let me think….

A quick look at Jordan's history as alluded to by Matt in the article will tell you this...
And even more so Lebanon just a few years later.

They've revoked this woman's visa but they'll spend years trying to deport her as a human rights lawyer will be on the case.

Agreed. The governments of the past 30 years haven’t even built any new reservoirs but think they can give refuge to the world.
It infuriates me that the keys to our nation are in the hands of lunatics. How dare they invite ANYONE into our country without our consent. The electorate have made it clear time and time again that they do not want any more people arriving here to stay. Absolutely right on every count Matt, thank you for putting the case so well.
Import chaos, and you'll have it.
