I’m a great fan of Charlie Kirk and his murder is beyond comprehension. I hope his family take some succour from the kind words of support from around the world. Charlie offered hope and meaning through having difficult conversations and challenging people to make their case. This is the ultimate point of civilisation to be able to talk and resolve differences. I think this is why the reaction to his death is so shocking in some cases, certainly by those saying he deserved it in some way. Those with that view need to take a break and think deeply about the words they use and what kind of world they want to live in when simply talking gets you killed.

A good thing to come out of the bile and nastiness from the left following Charlie's murder is their values and beliefs have been exposed to more of the people. More people now know what we are up against and what Charlie was speaking about that day in Utah.

The very bad thing is we have lost a clear sighted and brave champion but our loss is nothing compared to his poor family. I have no adequate words for them and can only say we are thinking of them.

I think you are right and given the furore caused by George Floyd’s death, one can only think that the rebound on this death, of an innocent man will be many times greater.

Let us hope his death will galvanize conservatives to imitate his courage and begin speaking up and to democrats to realize their incessant hate speech is likely to bring a huge pushback to them at every turn.

I hope we don’t allow this to spark a civil war type killing of leaders on each side I worry that the left may actually want a civil war because they want to destroy America and getting Americans to kill each other will surely please their anti American benefactors

I have been radicalized by the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Here is an X posting by TheGathering

It’s exactly what I suggested is going to happen among conservatives

Starting Immediately

I will be attending church weekly

I will make babies

I will get involved in local politics

I will get involved in national politics

I will use my platform to inspire others to do the same

Thank you for your amazing words. It’s up to us older Americans to water the seeds that Charlie planted, to nurture them with our love and support. Godspeed you home, Charlie Kirk 💔.

Very well said Matt. Charlie Kirk was not just an inspiration, he was, and will remain, a role model. A very sad day.

Matt, protect yourself at all times, there are plenty of detractors with means in the UK?

Such terrible news, not only for Charlie, his family and friends but because it illustrates with glaring clarity the moral depravity of so many on today’s left. The abuse, character assassination, the victim blaming and the sheer hatred towards a fellow human are difficult to comprehend but they show just how deeply leftist indoctrination has destroyed the ability of so many to think; ideology and unthinking allegiance to that ideology is all encompassing. All we can hope is that this is a turning point and that the leftist juggernaut can be halted. Let his death not be in vain.

There’s little hope of such honesty; confronting it would destroy their warped world view.

Probably like many although I knew of Charlie Kirk I didn't follow him much to my regret. Keir Starmers statement on X in the final paragraph 'we must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear'. Said by someone doing his utmost to shut down debate in this country. What an insult.

It’s heartbreaking to think that this selfless young man, whose aim was to promote debate in an effort to ensure the truth was in the public domain and freedom of speech was protected, has lost his life in this way and those two beautiful babies will grow up without their daddy. Heartfelt condolences to his lovely wife and all his family who have lost a shining light from their lives. RIP Charlie Kirk

Well written Matt. Perhaps his epitaph will be They tried to bury us”, it begins, “but they didn’t know we were seeds”. RIP Charlie Kirk, humanity has lost a giant of a man.

Matt I had heard about Charles Kirk at the 2024 election and an article in Spectator World in June of this year. He was one of those people who lived and ultimately died by the line that in order for evil to triumph good men say nothing. Like you he rose to the challenge and paid a heavy price. How many of us could say we would be that brave. I hate to say this Matt but people such as yourself and others need to check that you review how you keep yourself safe. Sadly the old adage of agreeing to disagree seems to be disappearing in civil discourse on both sides in the UK as in the USA

I am heart broken for his family and the world. I lost my beloved mum last night too, so can partly understand their pain. She was suffering but he had so much yet to give and do.

I will be marching for Charlie, and all he stood for, on Saturday.

Charlie Kirk believed in Jesus Christ. This belief made him who he was and gave him the gifts he exhibited. The world is better for having him. God comfort his family and friends.

I felt sick once I heard. Don’t know him but his impact affected a lot of us in Australia. For those of us that know how do we explain why his voice was important. That’s what his movement and now his legacy. That people will open their hearts and ears.
