Suddenly, Britain’s establishment has discovered that it needs British men.
In recent weeks, many people within the political and media class have warned that war might be coming and British men must prepare to fight and even die for Britain.
Boris Johnson has talked about sending troops to defend Ukraine from Russia. The Liberal Democrats have urged the government to establish an ‘emergency register’ of civilian volunteers who could be called upon to fight for Britain.
Government officials are updating Britain’s ‘war book’, preparing for the possibility of conflict by the end of the year. Britain’s most senior soldier, Sir Richard Knighton has warned that “the risks and threats to the UK are greater now than at any time since the Cold War”, having previously said, last year, that “we need more people being ready to fight for their country”.
And this week, while the BBC turned heads by asking, “war may be coming, are we psychologically ready?”, Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg caused a stir by saying:
“In the next few years, we may face a war. We will need people who will go out and do their duty. We may even face circumstances where people have to die to save their country as they did in the First and Second World Wars”.
But while the establishment is clearly gearing up for war, here’s a much bigger and more uncomfortable question it should ask first: Why should British men and boys be willing to fight and perhaps die for a country they feel will no longer fight for them?
I ask this because you cannot spend years demoralising British men, discriminating against them, weakening their sense of attachment to the nation, and undermining their stake in the future of that country only to then turn around and demand they ‘do their duty’ and get ready to risk their lives at war.
Yet that is precisely what the ruling class is now trying to do.
For much of the last twenty years, politicians have imposed two-tier policies that openly discriminate against the very men they are now telling to prepare for war.
The universities forcing British students to take ‘white privilege’ tests and apologise for Britain’s history and culture. The scholarships and studentships that openly exclude boys from the white working-class.
The taxpayer-funded media, like the BBC, which often use the British people’s own money to portray their history and identity as a source of ‘racism’ and shame.
The police that have introduced ‘race action plans’ that explicitly prioritise minorities over the majority, while implying many people in the latter are ‘racist’.
If there is a symbol of how much of the establishment think of British men then it is surely Henry Nowak, who was forced to deny he was ‘racist’ while dying in front of politically correct police officers and his murderers.
Global corporations like Netflix, meanwhile, use their immense cultural power to portray working-class lads, much like we’ve seen in the political debate ever since Brexit, as inherently problematic, “far-right”, “misogynists”, and “divisive”.
Even our own Armed Forces and security services have been caught discriminating against the very demographic group on which they might soon have to rely on.
The Royal Air Force was found to have unlawfully discriminated against white male recruits in pursuit of female and ethnic minority candidates, while an internship programme for MI5 and MI6 was also found to have excluded white British men.
Just imagine, for a moment, what all this looks like to young men who are now being bombarded by Ministry of Defence recruitment adverts on television and social media having been treated for much of the last decade as second-class citizens.
As I said yesterday, I’m really don’t think that constantly portraying working-class lads as racist, far-right, “gammons”, and extremists while imposing two-tier policies that discriminate against them is the best way of encouraging them to fight for their country. Who exactly do politicians, BBC executives, university professors, and woke celebrities think will come and defend them if and when war erupts?
And it’s not just about two-tier discrimination.
Look across Britain today and it’s hard to avoid a bigger question. What are we doing to make young men feel proud of Britain, invested in its future, and willing to fight and possibly sacrifice their lives for it?
The social contract — as I’ve pointed out time and time again — is now visibly falling apart. The fundamental bargain that if you work hard, contribute and even fight for your country then it will protect and prioritise you in return is completely broken.
At every step, it seems, the British state is no longer interested in valuing the very men it might soon call upon to defend it, while the Labour government has openly betrayed those men who served Britain in the past by declaring lawfare on veterans.
Ask yourself: if the ruling class really cared about young British men then why has it allowed nearly one million 16–24-year-olds, including more than half a million young men, to end up on the scrapheap, not in education, employment, or training, and often sliding into lives of welfare dependency and joblessness?
Why has the ruling class allowed young British men to be undercut at every turn, building an economy in which, for every one young British worker who is added to payroll jobs, twenty-seven migrant workers from outside Europe are added?
Why would they fight for a country that — as we learned this week — is now spending £12 billion a year on welfare benefits for households with foreign nationals while claiming it does not have enough money to support its own Armed Forces?
And why on earth would British men men fight and possibly die trying to defend a country that cannot even be bothered to defend its own borders?
Are you seriously expecting British men to risk their lives for a country that, as we’ve seen in Dover, Portsmouth, and now Gosport, is allowing more than 210,000 illegal migrants from mainly Muslim nations to stream across its borders at will, while simultaneously allowing its regular trained army to dwindle to just 71,000 men?
Expecting them to fight and die for a country in which from one city to the next, one town to the next, even one village to the next, the British people are both visibly and rapidly being demographically replaced?
Is that really the message to young British men — “fight and perhaps die for a nation in which you and your people will soon be a minority, and where you are you only allowed to celebrate this change and have no concerns about what it means?”
Just ask yourself. Would you fight for a ruling class that lectures you about ‘doing your duty’ while refusing to stop Iranian terror suspects, ISIS sympathisers, and countless other dangerous criminals entering at will on the small boats?
Do our hapless rulers in Westminster seriously think that young British men won’t see this blatant contradiction? They are being asked to risk their lives defending a state that is visibly failing to defend Britain’s borders, culture, and people.
My point is that you cannot treat your own people this way and then suddenly expect them to discover an intense sense of national duty, sacrifice, patriotism, and loyalty when it suits the ruling class in Westminster.
If the establishment wants young British men to fight and possibly die for the country then perhaps it should start by giving them a country in which they feel they are respected and they have a stake, a purpose, and a future worth defending.
Because that country is sorely missing right now.
Just look at the numbers. Recently, only 11% of young people told the polling company YouGov they would fight for Britain if they were called upon.
Another major study by King’s College London found that the share of young people who feel ‘proud’ of Britain has collapsed from nearly 50%, in 2020, to just 29% today, while feelings of pride in Britain are also noticeably lower among ethnic minorities.
These are the numbers that should concentrate minds in Westminster.
Because this is what happens when the ruling class constantly denigrates Britain’s history, culture, and identity. When schools, universities, and other institutions have launched what Professor Frank Furedi has called a ‘war against our past’ — constantly attacking, criticising, and eroding our sense of history, identity, and culture. And when British people are now even threatened with jail if they fly the national flag.
You cannot spend years telling the British people their history is shameful, their country is ‘racist’, their patriotism is extremism, and their concerns about mass immigration are illegitimate or ‘far right’ and then wonder why so many of them are unwilling to fight and die for the settlement that surrounds them.
Those who say Britain must urgently strengthen its Armed Forces and national defence are right. Personally, I’d take the £13 billion we are currently sending overseas in foreign aid and spend this instead on our own military.
The fact we just sent £665 million to help Angola build an airport and £100 million to Pakistan to help people buy condoms while watching our own military fall apart shows how truly absurd things have become.
But strengthening our Armed Forces and national security is about more than buying missiles, drones, tanks, and recruiting more soldiers.
Fundamentally, strengthening our national security means strengthening the nation itself, otherwise nobody will feel the urge to defend that nation.
That means prioritising young British people in every part of our economy and getting them back to work or, failing that, throwing them into national service.
It means prioritising young British couples in our broken housing system, so they might actually have a chance of owning their own home, starting a family, feeling they have a stake in the country and good reason to want to defend it.
It means rooting out all two-tier ‘diversity, equality, and inclusion’ policies that have become code-words for discriminating against white men.
It means fixing Britain’s borders and dramatically slowing the pace of immigration and demographic change so that people are willing to defend communities and a country that actually feels and looks like home.
And, most of all, it means the likes of Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Liberal Democrats, and the BBC pausing to ask themselves an uncomfortable question:
Before asking British men and boys to fight and possibly even die for Britain, when was the last time Britain actually fought for them?

To be honest - and I say this with hesitation as it’s not something that should be said lightly - given the level of anger I know people feel, I think if the Russian government promised to “remove” the British Establishment there would be some who now welcome that.
You really can make a case that the Establishment has been committing acts of terror against the people of this country by allowing the continued mass rape of women and girls. Rory Stewart really crystallised it in his disgusting remarks that it was essentially just a management issue.
Why would anybody fight to save a country only for it to be given away to foreign nationals …. I’m gearing up to leave and encouraging my children to do the same ….
