Yesterday, hidden away in official government statistics, the British state quietly admitted something that really is extraordinary.

Britain’s population is set to surge by another 1.7 million people - in just eight years.

That’s equivalent to adding the combined populations of Birmingham and Cardiff to the country’s population by the year 2034.

And almost nobody is talking about it.

One reason I created and built this community of ours is so that somebody can tell you the truth about what is happening to our Western nations.

And the truth is that the scale and speed of change that is underway is unlike anything most people realise. We are living amidst a demographic revolution.

Here’s what the government’s latest figures, quietly released yesterday, by the Office for National Statistics, tell us about what’s about to happen.

By the year 2034 - only eight years away - Britain and the British people will experience profound and unprecedented demographic change.

Here’s what will happen according to the official data:

→ 6.4 million people will be born.

→ 6.8 million will die.

→ 7.2 million will migrate into the country from overseas.

→ And roughly 5 million, including many native Brits, will leave Britain altogether.

The population, in other words, will not only surge to some 71 million people but all of this increase will now come from just one source: mass immigration.

Not some of it. Not a bit of it. All of it.

Or in the words of the Office for National Statistics, immigration “is projected to be the only source of population growth in the UK over the next 25 years”.

The assumptions that underpin the establishment’s statistical models show clearly what they are planning in the years ahead:

The average level of net migration each year - they assume - will now be at least 230,000 for the foreseeable future.

Who voted for that? Who voted to add the equivalent of the greater Reading area to the population every single year?

Astonishingly, by the year 2034, net migration will add another 2.2 million people to the population - equivalent to adding nearly two Birminghams in just a few years.

Millions more people needing homes, schools, GP appointments, NHS treatment, roads, infrastructure, and more. And millions more British people being subjected to a pace of change that many, put simply, will find utterly bewildering.

Upgrade to Access Everything

The population that’s already here, meanwhile, will slump by nearly half a million because there are now more deaths than births in the country, and because a long line of governments, both Labour and Tory, have refused to invest in British families.

If you want to see what this looks like in one chart then look at the chart below.

It shows you how net immigration - not natural change among the British population - will now be the only driver of our country’s population growth.

What we are about to witness, in other words, is the ongoing, accelerating, and radical transformation of the country, its population, and culture.

And remember - these figures are not coming from political activists. They are coming from the British state itself. They are official projections.

And they are entirely consistent with what I argue in Suicide of a Nation - namely, that the historic majority of the United Kingdom is now being demographically replaced by a combination of declining birth-rates, large-scale immigration, and a political class that has clearly decided to prioritise immigration over its own people.

Nobody ever voted for this. And nobody ever asked for this.

Yet it is happening regardless, imposed by a ruling class that has not only lost touch with the people who surround it but now appears to be fully invested in transforming and overturning the country and its population.

Which brings me back to why I started this newsletter.

Most people ‘out there’ will not be aware of these figures and projections. And most people will not get a chance to have them explained or summarised.

Understandably, they are busy with their families and jobs to obtain and dissect obscure reports that reveal what is really happening to their country.

But in this community of ours, we do things differently.

We do look at the data. And we do tell people the truth. Because somebody has to.

The latest attempted assassination of President Donald Trump has rightly caused shock, outrage, and disgust around the world. There should be no place at all for political violence and terrorism in Western democracies.

But does everybody believe this? Or are certain groups in politics more open than others to using violence, harassment, and intolerance to achieve their aims?

President Trump himself hinted at this in the aftermath of the latest attempted assassination, when he said: “I do think that the hate speech of the Democrats is much more so, is … very dangerous. I really think it’s very dangerous for the country”.

Amid a radicalised left - which now routinely accuses its political opponents of not merely holding different political views but of being ‘fascist’, ‘extremist’, ‘far-right’, or ‘threatening democracy’ - President Trump clearly views a part of today’s left as being dangerously open to using violence, aggression, and harassment.

Clearly, when Trump points the finger at the left, the usual columnists, gatekeepers, and activists within the left establishment will roll their eyes.

But what if he has a point? What if he is right? What if, actually, a big pile of evidence suggests there is a much bigger problem with political violence on the left than the right? Here’s what you’ll probably never hear on BBC Verify or CNN, including lots of studies and surveys that do suggest Trump has a point.

While political violence and hatred exist on both sides — and should always be condemned — a large and growing pile of evidence suggests that parts of the modern left are far more politically intolerant than their right-wing counterparts.

There was a hint of this in September, when it was reported that, for the first time in more than 30 years in America, left-wing domestic terrorist attacks now outnumber their right-wing counterparts.

This runs directly against the story we are told.

Routinely, we are told the main threat facing Western nations is not the far-left or even Islamists but the ‘far-right’ - fascists, authoritarians, misogynists, and so forth - while the left is presented as tolerant, compassionate, inclusive, empathetic.

But look at the evidence and a very different picture emerges.

In America, after the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, reliable surveys revealed a disturbing willingness among some people to rationalise political violence.

YouGov found that after Charlie Kirk’s murder more than one in five Americans refused to say it was unacceptable for a person to feel happy about the death of a public figure they oppose. And there were big differences beneath the surface.

Consistently, self-identified ‘liberal’ or left-wing Americans are far more likely than conservatives to defend feeling joy about the death of an opponent.

Shockingly, close to one in four people who describe themselves as ‘very liberal’ (or left-wing in a British context) say that feeling this way is ‘always or usually acceptable’.

Committed liberals and left-wingers, in other words, are four times more likely than conservatives to believe that celebrating the death of a political opponent is fine.

The same survey, last September, similarly found that liberals and left-wingers are far more likely than conservatives to believe that resorting to violence for political goals is justifiable - a view close to one in five left-wingers hold.

Nor was that the only piece of evidence …

Just a brief note from me to say THANK YOU because today it was officially confirmed that Suicide of a Nation has been in the Sunday Times bestseller list for an entire month - which is simply incredible for a book that was deliberately published outside the mainstream publishing industry, and which had zero support from the established gatekeepers who like to think they control the national debate.

Despite zero interest from the BBC, despite a concerted effort by critics to try and undermine the book, despite popular bookshops on the high street never seeming to have any copies available … the book not only broke into the top ten bestsellers but then spent two weeks at Number 1, and is today the Number 2 paperback in Britain. Suicide of a Nation has broken out, becoming one of the biggest books in the country.

I’ve never seen anything like this in my career. And nor has the publishing industry, from what I’ve been told by very senior people within that industry.

I just wanted to say thank you, that is all.

Watching Keir Starmer this week it is clear: the Starmer regime is over.

It’s now just a matter of time.

Keir Starmer is still in office. But he is no longer in power. The man whose pitch to the country, less than two years ago, was that he was a man of process, detail, bureaucracy, and competence — the very opposite, he claimed, of Boris Johnson — has been completely undone by his glaring failure to manage precisely those things.

Yesterday, amid the ongoing furore over Peter Mandelson, senior civil servant Olly Robbins dismantled Starmer’s carefully constructed image, minute by minute.

What emerged was a picture of a Prime Minister and a Number 10 operation that was willing to ride roughshod over the process and machinery of government .

They did so, clearly, to ensure that their man, Peter Mandelson — a known friend of a convicted paedophile, a known lobbyist for firms in China and Russia, and a man known to have already been forced out of politics in disgrace twice before — could ascend to one of the most prestigious diplomatic posts in the country.

What is most astonishing in the unfolding scandal is not Keir Starmer’s claim that officials had not told him that Mandelson had failed vetting by the security services but that, according to Olly Robbins, Number 10 had displayed such little interest in vetting Mandelson to begin with — a man who is literally known as the ‘Prince of Darkness’.

Such is the sense of moral righteousness around Starmer’s regime that they clearly did not think vetting was required.

Using words that Keir Starmer once used against Boris Johnson, what emerges is a picture of a prime minister and a team around him who clearly think there is one law for them, another for everybody else. And now they’ve been found out.

The damage is profound and clearly spells the end of Starmer. Because, at root, his image of authority and initial appeal to voters rested on trust — on the key promise that, unlike Johnson and the Tories, he would do things properly. He would restore standards in public life.

Those with longer memories will point out this claim was suspect from the very start of Starmer’s premiership. While he likes to project himself as the embodiment of integrity and decency, Starmer, we should remember, is also the man who chose to begin his premiership by helping himself, in an unseemly display, to clothes, glasses and dresses for his wife courtesy of Lord Alli, a Labour Party donor. A man of high moral virtue would not do such a thing.

But now, after yesterday, Starmer’s image lies in ruins. And once that goes, what is left? What is Keir Starmer’s legacy, exactly?

The economy is in the toilet. A recession is on the horizon. Taxes are surging to the highest level in peacetime, rising faster than in any other advanced democracy. Unemployment is increasing. So too is the number of small boats crossing the Channel. Petty crime and gang violence are essentially legal now, with soft-on-crime policies bringing misery to the high street and early release to prisoners.

Starmer has utterly failed to revive economic growth, to make the British people feel safe and secure, to improve our standing on the world stage, and to reverse the managed decline that has now become a permanent fixture of British life.

Worse, he has actively alienated the country, taking a wrecking ball to many things the British people have long cherished. Two-tier justice. Attempts to scrap jury trials, even elections. A concerted crackdown on free speech. Bizarre detours into digital identification with no democratic mandate to do so. And no less than fifteen U-turns along the way. This is not competence; this is chaos.

All delivered by a prime minister who quite clearly, visibly, hates much of the country he governs. Listen to Starmer’s speeches. He clearly views what he now simply calls ‘right-wing politics’ - which happens to be supported by half the country - as illegitimate, and has made no secret of the fact that he views millions of his own citizens as ‘far-right’.

Like most radical progressives, Starmer’s overwhelming sense of moral righteousness simply does not allow him to view political opposition as healthy, legitimate, worthy of discussion. It must either be ridiculed, or simply shut down.

Perhaps more than anything, Starmer’s complete disconnect from the country that surrounds him was best reflected in his ongoing refusal, until the very last possible moment, to commit to holding a national inquiry into the mass rape and sexual abuse of British children by the grooming gangs.

The prime minister of our country literally had to be dragged kicking and screaming by the people to commit to delivering justice to children who had been raped on an industrial scale. Starmer simply could not see the importance of this issue because, as a radical progressive, it turned his entire worldview upside down. And even now, he has still not prioritised it.

In fact, Starmer has consistently been on the wrong side of the British people from day one. From ditching winter fuel allowances for pensioners while sending billions in foreign aid overseas, to destroying British farms and selling off our national territory for no clear reason. He neither understands nor respects the British people, that much is obvious. As he said himself, he would rather be in Davos.

And the consequences are now clear for all to see. Under Starmer’s regime, Britain both feels and looks deeply unstable, divided, and febrile - like an unruly, febrile school that’s readying to blow under an authoritarian, aloof headmaster who has completely lost the respect of pupils.

Roughly three quarters of the British people, according to one recent survey by Ipsos-MORI, now expect ‘large-scale disturbances’ in Britain. This is Starmer’s legacy; he has pushed the country and its people to the very edge.

Inside the Labour Party, meanwhile, because of the latest crisis, the mood is shifting fast. Cabinet ministers are this morning briefing openly against Starmer. MPs are looking ahead to the local elections on May 7th, bracing for what many expect to be historic losses in England, Wales, and Scotland. They are waiting for Starmer to absorb the defeat. And then, no doubt, the knives will come out and he will be gone.

What then? I predict that the Labour Party …

I don’t know about you but in the last three months I’ve felt a little distance from our Substack community creeping in.

Inevitably, standing at a parliamentary by-election and then launching a bestselling book has kept our team very busy and disrupted our usual routine.

I thank you for your patience.

While all this work has been consistent with our plan to bring about change, to represent the views of the silent majority, and take on the failing establishment, it’s kept us on the road and a little distracted.

Which is why I’m writing with some news.

We’re making some changes to entrench this community at the centre of what we do.

Now that things are returning to normal, I want to create a more regular schedule for our writing and more original, unique content you simply won’t get anywhere else.

And I want you to know what is coming, what to expect, and what are the benefits of supporting our community from one week to the next.

What does that look like?

First, I want to create a consistent space where people who feel deeply concerned about the direction of Western societies and excluded from the national conversation can gather together every week to discuss what’s happening, what we might do about it, and build a stronger sense of community and belonging.

Starting this Friday, I’ll be hosting a weekly live briefing on the Substack App for our community - a place where we can speak openly and honestly about anything and everything we want to speak about. This is a space for us, nobody else.

We’ve run these Live discussions in the past, of course. And I think it’s fair to say, based on feedback, that everybody really enjoys them.

But they’ve never been consistent with a dedicated weekly slot and format.

Now, they will have just that.

A dedicated slot.

Every Friday, at 2pm, I’ll run The State of Britain on the Substack App.

This is the best slot we could agree on given our international audience and different timezones, the need to review the week, and for our work not to completely invade time with family and rest during evenings and weekends.

It will include 15-20 minutes of my thoughts — what I think was important in that week, a review of the latest evidence or data people might have missed, what legacy media is missing, and of course lots of original insight from my travels and campaigns — followed by a Q&A with you.

This means that every week we know we will have one contact point, one moment we can all look forward to - where our community is joining together.

Last night, after our book tour passed through the latest destination, this time Wigan, I received an update.

For the second week in a row, Suicide of a Nation is the Number 1 paperback on the Sunday Times bestseller list.

It’s now spent three weeks in the top ten and two weeks at the top spot.

Despite no attention from the BBC, despite no interest from any of the podcasts that claim to understand the mood of the country, such as The Rest Is Politics or The News Agents, and despite no backing from the mainstream publishers, Suicide of a Nation has still entrenched itself as the most read paperback in Britain.

The book has now morphed into one that is being read, debated, and discussed across the country.

The argument about mass immigration, demographic change, and two-tier multiculturalism has resonated. Many people are engaging with it.

And in turn the book is helping to raise awareness and set the stage for change.

Perhaps my favourite moment last night was when a teenager, who had already bought the book, came up to me, asked me to sign it, and said: “We don’t read anything like this in school”. Indeed.

So thank you. Genuinely.

But I also know that you don’t want me to keep talking about the book! We’ve made the point - that there is enormous public demand for something that dismantles the narrow the consensus in Westminster.

Now, from tomorrow, in this community, we will leave the book circulating and spreading across the country but move forward. As there’s much to do.

From here on, the focus shifts back to what this community of ours was established to do in the first place — explore ideas, events, developments, and data from a unique perspective that you will simply not get anywhere else - least of all in the legacy media, the BBC, and the Groupthink that’s stifling our institutions.

British politics is being radically and perhaps permanently reshaped.

That’s the message from a flurry of major surveys and forecasts that have been released ahead of the local elections on May 7th, and which all point strongly to the conclusion that - with Keir Starmer’s premiership now teetering on the verge of collapse - we really are on the cusp of some truly historic change in British politics.

This newsletter was one of the first to warn about the ‘Boriswave’ - the decision taken by Boris Johnson and the Tories to flood Britain with more than four million low-wage, low-skill migrants from outside Europe.

It was a complete and utter betrayal. There is no other word for it.

Between 2021 and 2024, Johnson and the Tories - astonishingly - issued a staggering 3.8 million long term visas, resulting in gross immigration of 4.8 million and net immigration of 2.6 million.

Two aspects of this migration are even more shocking.

First, economically, just 17 per cent of the Boriswave migrants came as workers on work visas. Not even one in five.

And second, culturally, roughly 90 per cent came from outside Europe, meaning Britain went from a country with lots of migration from within European civilisation to one that now has lots of migration from outside it.

There was no democratic mandate for this policy. Nobody ever voted for it.

In fact, Boris Johnson and the Tories had themselves promised to do the very opposite by lowering immigration.

But instead they treated Britain and the British people with utter contempt, a shocking move that goes a long way to explaining their continuing decline.

What makes this even worse - as I pointed out in October - and explore in more detail in my new book, is just how reckless and damaging this was for Britain’s economy, health service, and social care system.

Contrary to bringing over the ‘best and the brightest’, Johnson and the Tories imported millions of people who have few skills, are often not even working at all, and have become an enormous net cost to the British people.

Well, it’s official:

Suicide of a Nation is now the No.1 paperback in Britain on the Sunday Times bestseller list. I can’t quite believe it.

Despite no coverage on the BBC and traditional media, no major publisher, no support from the usual gatekeepers, and being continually attacked, including vicious attacks on me personally, the book is the number one paperback in the country.

And it came from right here — from this community of ours.

This was the very first place where I discussed the idea behind the book, shared the plan, and watched all this grow from a seed into the top paperback in Britain.

What this tells us is something far bigger than the success of a single book.

It tells us that beneath all the noise, behind all the attacks, beyond the Westminster bubble and legacy media, there are many, many people who can feel that something fundamental is changing in Britain - and who want the truth.

This is why, despite everything, Suicide of a Nation is the Number One paperback.

Lots of hardworking, decent people who have seen through the attacks and have taken the decision to read and support this book by telling other people about it, by saying to their friends and family: “You need to read this.”

One idea that I explore in my new book Suicide of a Nation is ‘suicidal empathy’ - how politicians in the West have become so utterly obsessed with showing empathy and compassion to others they are willing to destroy their own nations along the way.

Words like empathy and tolerance sound noble and virtuous. But as the Canadian psychologist Gad Saad points out, when they are taken to the extreme they can lead people to abandon all reason and rationality.

You see suicidal empathy at work across Western nations today, where politicians routinely prioritise minorities and outsiders at the expense of their own country’s survival. And you see it at work in how some politicians are entertaining another idea that’s been debated in Britain this week - the demand for “slavery reparations”.

This is the idea that Western nations such as Britain - or more accurately their taxpayers - should transfer billions if not trillions of pounds to other countries so as to compensate for their historic involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.

The numbers are unbelievable.

Astonishingly, three years ago, one United Nations judge suggested that despite grappling with one of the worst cost-of-living crises on record the British people should be forced to pay more than £18 trillion in reparations for Britain’s historic link to slavery in 14 countries - a sum the member of the International Court of Justice also said was an “underestimation”. That figure - £18 trillion - is about seven times the size of Britain’s national economy.

And it’s not just Britain.

An earlier report by the Brattle Group likewise suggested that Western states such as Britain, America, Spain, and France should pay £87 trillion to address the harms caused by slavery - demands that are being entertained by some politicians who, driven by suicidal empathy, are far more interested in projecting their own sense of moral righteousness than ensuring the survival of their own nations and people.

Let’s be clear. Demands for slavery reparations are historically illiterate and deeply insulting. They also reflect a blatant cash-grab by often corrupt and failing states that are exploiting the sickness of wokeness and guilt that has taken hold of the West.

They are based on an extremely selective reading of history. Nobody questions the fact that Britain was involved in the slave trade. But what these extreme activists who have been fully indoctrinated in anti-British and anti-Western ideologies ignore is the major role Britain then played in abolishing slavery and enforcing this, too, when so many other nations refused to do so.

Those demanding reparations say nothing at all about how the Royal Navy seized thousands of slave ships, freed tens of thousands of enslaved people, how countless British sailors lost their lives while tackling slavery, and how British taxpayers in the past - our ancestors - paid enormous sums to support these efforts to eradicate slavery. It’s not mentioned because it complicates and undermines the woke narrative.

Nor, by the way, do they say anything at all about the extensive black-on-black slavery that went on during this time. As historian Nigel Biggar points out, Africans enslaved other Africans for centuries, from the African kingdom of Kongo to Omani Arabs on the East African coast to Fulani Africans in Nigeria. Yet nobody ever mentions this.

What’s also ignored, as historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo points out, is that while slavery is absolutely abhorrent and should always be condemned it is also true that Britain made enormous positive contributions to many of these nations, including but not limited to: the English language, common law, universities, effective administration, higher rates of growth, medicine, longer life expectancy, policing, and sanitation. As Heydel-Mankoo notes, if these nations were serious and consistent about their desire to ‘decolonise’ their nations then they would remove all these things, too.

Nor do these activists say much about how slavery is still practiced today, including across parts of Africa and Asia. If this really was about ‘tackling injustice’ then why are these activists not spending their time campaigning against what is happening right now in China, the Arab world, and Africa - not what happened generations ago and for which nobody today bears any responsibility? We know why - because it does not involve the increasingly guilt-ridden, self-loathing political class in the West that has become an easy mark for self-interested nations elsewhere in the world.

What we are left with, in short, is an ugly cash-grab. Forcing the hardworking, decent British people to send billions in foreign aid to nations that simultaneously demand trillions more in “slavery reparations” has to be one of the greatest Ponzi schemes of all time. Just look at the numbers.

Because this book is no longer just being read by a dedicated community; it is now being read across the country -on trains, in restaurants, on campuses, in homes.

While many people have attacked the book, have criticised the book, have done everything to distract from the book, the people out there are clearly engaging with it.

Suicide of a Nation has become one of the biggest books in the country, which is another fact my mainly left-wing critics cannot stand.

They’ve gone from criticising a footnote or two to criticising its success. Why? Because the Left are so obsessed with control and this book is something they cannot control. The people have got behind it and are pushing it forward.

The book spent all of last week in the top ten on Amazon’s bestseller list, too, and is clearly striking a chord with countless people who feel that something fundamental is changing in our country - something they never voted for, or asked for.

Suicide of a Nation is my third Sunday Times national bestseller - coming after the previous books National Populism, and Values Voice and Virtue. But it is the book I am most proud of. Because it’s success is not just about sales.

It’s about resonance - about how the book has connected with a quiet, creeping sense among millions of people that the questions raised in this book can no longer be dismissed, ignored, or pushed aside.

And it’s about genuine independence - a book that despite being deliberately published outside the mainstream woke publishing industry, bypassing the ruling class to speak directly to the people, has still connected in this way.

The conversation about the issues I raise in the book - the impact of mass immigration on our country, the speed and scale of demographic change, the spread of ‘two-tier multiculturalism’, the rise of an entirely new and completely disconnected political class - is now only just beginning.

It will continue for months to come, not least as I continue to take Suicide of a Nation on tour, speaking at dozens if not hundreds of community events across the country (though don’t worry - I’ll not keep writing pieces on it! We must move on … )

We are losing our country because of how its underlying foundations - a shared identity, a shared language, and a shared set of values - are rapidly crumbling.

That’s my argument in Suicide of a Nation, my new book that’s become one of the biggest-selling books in Britain.

Increasingly, with no unifying sense of who we are, and with a political class that is fuelling rather than fixing these problems, Britain feels more like a hotel than a home.

My critics, of course, disagree strongly.

They say there’s nothing to worry about. Multiculturalism is working just fine. Diversity is our strength.

But if this is true then I invite them to explain what I’m about to show you - maps that show how Britain is coming apart.

As I write in the book, while you’ll never hear about this in Westminster or on the BBC, the fact - from the latest census in 2021 - is that there are now 5.8 million people in Britain who refuse to share a UK, British, or English identity - up from 4.5 million a decade earlier. Nearly one in ten people in England now think this way.

They do not see themselves as a member of the UK, British, or English community but something else entirely, as holding what the census calls a ‘non-UK identity’.

The picture is even more dramatic in particular areas, where thanks to the disastrous policy of mass immigration, there are many large enclaves in the country that are filled with people who refuse to embrace our national identity.

Some people might not think this is worrying. They’ll shrug their shoulders.

But I do think it’s worrying. Because a nation without a strong, unifying sense of identity will eventually cease to be a nation.

You can see what is happening in the map below, with the dark clusters signifying areas of the country where there are now lots of people who reject our identity.

And remember: this map is based on the 2021 census and so does not include the post-2021 ‘Boriswave’ which brought a further 4 million migrants from mainly outside Europe - with entirely different cultures and identities - into Britain. So the number of people who do not embrace our identity is almost certainly even higher.

Now look at how this plays out in specific areas, which really give you a sense of just how rapidly our country is fragmenting. I’ve deliberately avoided London, because I want to show you how this trend is cascading out into many other areas.

Look at Leicester, for example, which I talk about in the book. When it comes to immigration and multiculturalism, Leicester used to be held up as a success story, as the one place that ‘got it right’.

But very few analysts would say that today. Aside from witnessing communal violence, there are today close to one in four people in Leicester who prefer to align themselves with a ‘non-UK identity’ over a UK, British, or English identity. Nearly one-quarter of the entire city.

In some local neighbourhoods it’s much higher, such as Belgrave South (46 per cent), or Spinney Hill Road (46 per cent), with the darker shades of purple showing you the concentrations of people who would rather identify as ‘non-UK’.

If Leicester is such a success story then can anybody in the ruling class tell me why in some neighbourhoods close to half of all people refuse to adopt our national identity?

Or look at the northern town of Oldham, the first town to be chosen as a site of interest by the national inquiry into the Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs.

On the surface, Oldham doesn’t look as bad as other areas, with only 9 per cent of people across the authority preferring to align themselves with a ‘non-UK identity’.

But zoom in closer and you’ll find extraordinary levels of segregation.

In parts of Salem, Oldham, as well as the northern part of the authority, roughly 40 per cent of people refuse a UK, British, or English identity.

Completely different outlooks are often only separated by a few metres. On one side of Huddersfield Road, for example, fewer than one in ten people identify with a non-UK identity; but on the other, marked in the map below, close to three in five do.

This is not normal. It is the very opposite of integration.

It’s been 25 years since the policy expert Ted Cantle, who was writing after serious riots erupted in the town, warned publicly that people in Oldham were living ‘parallel lives’. Look at the very latest data and it appears they still are.

Or look at Rotherham, which is another hotspot for the grooming gangs.

Once again, across Rotherham as a whole, only about one in twenty people align with a ‘non-UK identity’. But once you take a closer look it’s not hard to find areas where very large numbers of people are refusing to embrace our national identity.

Such as neighbourhoods in the northeast of the authority where as many as 46 per cent of all people choose a ‘non-UK identity’, or in Masbrough, in eastern Rotherham, where more than 40 per cent think this way.

Once again, we see extremely high levels of segregation in a town where it is estimated at least 1,400 mainly white, working-class, non-Muslim British girls were sexually assaulted and trafficked across the country.

Will the national inquiry into the grooming gangs ask this deeper question, namely why so many people in northern towns like this refuse to identify with us? Will BBC Verify ever ask this question? Will my critics ever engage seriously with it?

Or look, lastly, at a town such as Derby, where this week a man from India decided to run over seven random members of the public with his car.

In Derby, too, like countless other towns, there are now very large numbers of people who simply do not want to share or embrace our identity.

While more than one in ten people across Derby feel this way, the numbers soar in particular neighbourhoods — between 40 and 46 per cent in the southern Pear Tree area, similar figures in New Normanton, and 54 per cent in parts of central Derby.

I could show you many, many more places like these, where large numbers of people choose not to identify with who we are.

What these maps show - and what I explore in more detail in the book - is not just a minor trend or passing phase but something much deeper and more fundamental:

The erosion of bonds that make a nation possible and sustainable.

A country is not just an economy, a set of institutions, or a few legal documents - it is a community with a shared story, collective memory, and common identity.

It is this deeper sense of belonging that binds strangers together into something larger and which makes them willing to support things like the welfare state.

But when that begins to weaken - when large and rising numbers of people no longer see themselves as part of that story - then the foundations begin to crumble.

This is what is now happening in Britain, as reflected on those maps above.

Public trust and confidence is declining. Our sense of belonging is weakening. And politics, in turn, is becoming more volatile, unstable, and more tribal.

This is why it matters.

Because if we continue down this path—ignoring the scale of the change, dismissing people’s concerns, and refusing to have an honest conversation—then we will not just leave millions of ordinary people feeling angry, resentful, and disillusioned.

But we will watch, in real time, the unravelling of the very thing that made our country a nation to begin with.

Something remarkable just happened.

According to The Bookseller - the leading magazine for the publishing industry - my new book Suicide of a Nation is now the Number 1 non-fiction paperback for small publishers and the Number 2 non-fiction paperback of ALL books in Britain.

Let that sink in.

Despite all the hate, the critics, the smears, the frenzied reaction to what I dared to write, Suicide of a Nation, is now one of the biggest books in Britain.

What makes this especially astonishing is that it’s also a book that was self-published - outside the traditional publishing system.

While I do not plan to keep writing about the book in this newsletter, given that we are still in the launch week I did want to address one question that I think is very important and has far-reaching implications for publishing, politics, and culture.

Why did I choose to self-publish my book in the first place?

The first and most obvious answer is because the mainstream publishers would simply never have published a book like this.

Let’s be completely honest about where we are in the West.

The vast majority of publishers today are not politically neutral institutions that are driven by the pursuit of truth, reason, and genuine creativity.

Far from it.

Like most other institutions that shape our cultural, intellectual, and political life, publishers now lean heavily, if not overwhelmingly, in one direction - towards a left-liberal worldview.

While they are obsessed with racial, sexual, and gender ‘diversity’, they actually operate in an ecosystem in which there is no genuine diversity of thought at all.

Just think.

When was the last time you saw a major publisher not only commission but seriously support - with energy, effort, and marketing - a book that deliberately ran against the left-liberal groupthink that dominates the institutions and our prevailing culture?

It simply doesn’t happen.

This groupthink has profound consequences.

It shapes which authors and which books get commissioned. It shapes which arguments are considered “acceptable”. And it determines which voices get amplified and which voices get quietly filtered out and, ultimately, shut down.

Publishers might push back against this by pointing to the one or two conservative or gender-critical writers they have had on their roster.

But the reality - as everybody in publishing knows - is that while these writers reflect views that are shared by roughly half the population (if not more), they are never given the same support as authors who do worship at the altar of left-progressivism.

And just look at the few occasions when genuinely counter-cultural writers have been recruited and supported. Routinely, the people who dared to write or publish these books with a mainstream publisher have been bullied, harassed, and intimidated.

Do I think Suicide of a Nation would have been commissioned, embraced, supported, and promoted by this mainstream publishing system? Of course not.

A book that openly challenges the prevailing liberal consensus on mass immigration, national identity, and multiculturalism was never going to glide effortlessly through the editorial meetings of London’s publishers.

In fact, I’ve seen what would have likely happened first-hand, based on my previous experience of working with mainstream publishers (this is my eighth book).

Let’s assume the book proposal would have been accepted and approved, which is a huge assumption given that most counter-cultural books are immediately filtered out.

The manuscript would then have been handed over to a junior editorial assistant who most likely just graduated from the woke dens of Oxford or Cambridge, and is fully indoctrinated (sorry, “immersed”) in the left-liberal groupthink.

The book would have been edited, censored, diluted, and reshaped beyond all recognition, whittled down to a pale or “safe” version of whatever it was before and a fundamentally different book from what the author had in mind.

It would then have gone through further “sensitivity” and “legal” checks, perhaps including another review by a senior editor, before being whittled down even further.

And then, with a final manuscript, the author would find themselves in a meeting with people from the marketing department, whose sole job it is to make sure that somebody out there actually reads the book.

But they too are dominated by left-leaning, twenty-something recent female graduates or middle-aged women who are instinctively hostile to anything that appears remotely “conservative”. Routinely, people’s ideological beliefs steer the conversation.

The success of your book, the manuscript that you nearly killed yourself writing for months and months, if not years, is now in the hands of people who clearly don’t like it, would rather not be working on it, and would probably prefer it didn’t exist at all.

All you will be left with is an overwhelming sense that while people might be going through the motions, your book - unlike others - is definitely not a priority.

And that’s precisely my point.

Having already written seven (much more tame) books - including two bestsellers - I knew that if I wanted then I could try and go through this tortuous process again.

But being in my forties, having gone through it multiple times, I knew that if you really wanted to take on the broken consensus then self-publishing was not just a fallback option. It was the only way to ensure this book existed at all.

It was also the only way I could regain control over the conversation, which is another reason why my critics hate Suicide of a Nation.

They cannot control the book - and they cannot control the conversations that the book is now sparking across the country.

In traditional publishing, like traditional media, there are layers upon layers of gatekeeping - editors, publicists, distributors, retailers, lawyers, sensitivity readers, and more - all of whom shape, soften, delay, and often quietly bury a book.

The shop that “doesn’t have it in stock”. The publicist that “couldn’t quite manage” to get it featured at the literary festivals. The sensitivity readers who conclude “readers might be triggered” by this or that paragraph. The lawyers who say “this is too risky - it’s not that we think something will happen but something might happen”.

This system is not just about quality control. It is about narrative control.

What the old gatekeepers want is to control what gets said, how it gets said, who says it, and whether it even gets said at all. It is all about control and censorship.

By self-publishing, I openly and deliberately stepped outside this system entirely.

No extensive editing. No ideological filters. No pressure to dilute or “reframe” the argument. No “triggering” paragraphs removed.

Just a direct line between myself and the reader.

Now, has this allowed one or two typos or historical misquotes to slip into the manuscript. Absolutely - and those are being fixed right now.

But the more important question is this:

Would I trade my freedom from this oppressive system of narrative control for a completely polished but also heavily edited and diluted manuscript? Not a chance. I will always choose freedom over control.

Which brings me to my final point: what this book and the publishing strategy behind it tell us about a more profound shift that is now taking place across the West.

The gatekeepers - the people who have spent the last half century or more controlling the narrative - are now losing their grip.

For decades, a small number of tightly-controlled and ideologically homogenous institutions - in publishing, media, academia, broadcasting - have shaped not only the national conversation but our entire national culture.

They set the tone, they defined the boundaries, they decided what was considered “serious” or “credible” and what was considered “unacceptable” or “beyond the pale”.

They anointed the authors, the “experts”, and the journalists who would become what they consider to be the arbiters of “truth” and “reason”.

They determined the parameters of what American writer Jonathan Rauch has called “the constitution of knowledge” - what is, or what is not, considered acceptable.

But that world is now fading.

And fading fast.

It’s not just reflected in the breakout success of self-published books like mine, which bypass the old gatekeepers, but can be seen elsewhere.

The rise of independent publishers. The rise of new television channels. The rise of Substacks. The rise of new voices that are openly cultivating new narratives that are attracting and mobilising mass audiences outside the old system.

The old gatekeepers, put simply, are no longer gatekeepers. Now, they are just one voice among many others - and often they are not even the loudest or most followed.

This is the new zeitgeist that I deliberately leaned into with this book - the rise of the outsiders, the anti-establishment writers and creators, the alternative perspectives, the people who are actually willing to represent what millions of ordinary people out there think and feel but who have been locked out of the system for decades.

Self-publishing Suicide of a Nation was not just a practical or even financial decision. It was strategic - it was about recognising where power in our society is moving and deliberately moving with it. It was completely consistent with my own belief in popular sovereignty - that power should reside with the people and it is the people who should be able to shape the direction of their own country and culture.

This is why despite the immense backlash, the coordinated attempt to discredit or cancel the book, the noise and smears, they have not been able to stop it.

Because they cannot stop it. I am in full control.

I do not need their approval. I do not crave their validation. I am not vulnerable to their pressure or criticism. I am not constrained by their networks. I do not need to worry about whether I will be allowed to write another book. I will not be pushed around by the academic and the expert class.

I am, in short, fully insulated.

Once you have a large and engaged audience, the whole dynamic changes.

I can take this book direct to the people. I can take it on the road. I can speak to audiences across the country. I can promote it. I can reach nearly 1 million people on social media. I can make this conversation happen - irrespective of what the old gatekeepers think. The old publishing model simply no longer makes sense.

And the result? We are competing — and winning — against books that are backed by the very institutions that were supposed to make self-publishing impossible.

What we have demonstrated is proof of concept.

So long as you are willing to take the heat, you can bypass the entire system, you can take and regain control, you can reach a mass audience, and you can succeed - commercially and culturally - on your own terms.

What I think this book shows, ultimately, is that the public is not as passive or easily managed as many people in publishing and media would like to believe.

People are looking for arguments that challenge the dreary consensus. They are looking for writers who tell it straight. And they are more than willing to step outside the mainstream to find it.

Nor are they idiots. They can recognise an attempted cancellation when they see it - and they are responding in numbers, by sending the book to the top of the charts.

That is the real story here.

Not just that Suicide of a Nation is climbing the charts. But that it is existing and thriving outside a system that would have stopped it from ever being written in the first place. And that, more than anything, is why I chose to self-publish.

Aside from watching my new book Suicide of a Nation rocket to Number 2 in the Amazon bestseller list - making it the second biggest selling book in Britain behind a children’s Easter book about a fluffy chick - I also spent this weekend watching something else.

Mounting evidence that Britain is about to be plunged into a major financial and political crisis, which could clear the way for an early general election.

I remember Nigel Farage telling me six months ago that he thought the next general election could arrive much sooner than 2029, potentially as early as next year.

I was sceptical.

But now, amidst the ongoing War in Iran and an intensifying energy crisis, I not only think Farage was right but am also coming to the view it could arrive even sooner.

Just look, for example, at the clearest warning sign of all: government debt.

Britain is currently spending somewhere around £140 billion a year just servicing our national debt - just paying off the interest on our country’s credit card.

Though you won’t hear much about it in Westminster, Britain is now spending more money each year servicing the interest on our national credit card than we are on things such as education, the Home Office, and even national defence.

It really is a disgrace and reflects decades of political mismanagement.

It is not normal. It is not sustainable. And it is now getting a lot worse.

Because the cost at which the state borrows has been soaring.

Last week, amid War in Iran, the UK government’s borrowing costs jumped above 5 per cent - the highest level since the global financial crash erupted in 2008.

And, no, this is not happening everywhere.

As one journalist noted yesterday, Britain’s ten-year gilt yields have risen by roughly twice as much as their equivalents in Germany and America, and by more than any other major country in Europe - except Italy. The Greeks can borrow money more cheaply than the Brits, which is really saying something.

Also, put this in domestic context.

When the BBC, Westminster, and much of the ruling class had a complete meltdown about the frenzied reaction to Liz Truss’s infamous budget, in autumn 2022, the rate was 4.54. Today, it’s just short of 5 per cent.

Yet where is the same meltdown?

In fact, the rates have consistently been higher than they were during the Liz Truss era for a long time. Back then, in 2022, we were repeatedly told the soaring cost of our debt represented a major and unique loss of market confidence in the economy.

Things could not possibly go on, they said. There must be a change of direction. There must be new leadership. So, if that was a crisis - then what is this?

Britain is currently nearly £3 trillion in debt - £3 trillion. And the blunt reality is that we are simply too weak to carry this amount of debt comfortably.

Our country is now trapped in an ever-tightening economic ‘doom-loop’ - with low or non-existent rates of growth and productivity resulting in high spending, high borrowing, the highest tax burden since World War Two, soaring energy prices that are fuelling stubbornly persistent inflation, and the spiralling cost of managing our very large pile of debt, which is making everything worse.

It is genuinely difficult to see how we get out of this.

Things were bad before the War in Iran; but now soaring energy bills, as a result of those supply chain shocks, are pushing us ever closer to a major financial crisis.

Last week, the consultancy Oxford Economics predicted that the British people’s household energy bills, already at historic highs, will surge by another 14 per cent from July, as higher oil and gas prices filter through to the domestic economy.

Because our hapless leaders in Westminster, captured by the Net Zero religion, refuse to make use of our own oil and gas supplies, we have become deeply and dangerously exposed to international fluctuations in energy prices, leaving our economy and the British people extremely vulnerable to any and every external shock.

Meanwhile, next month, the British people’s council tax, water, mobile phone, Internet, car tax, and even the cost of passports and stamps will all rise, too.

It really is not hard to see how this mounting financial crisis could soon push us into a major political crisis, too, colliding with trends that are already visible.

Keir Starmer’s Labour government is imploding. It’s not just that the prime minister is in office but no longer in power, as everybody can already see, from one backbench Labour rebellion to the next, from the departure of one advisor to the next.

It’s that the structural foundations that underpin the Labour Party are also rapidly giving way, setting the stage for even more political chaos.

I was pleased to have played a small role in this, defeating Labour as a Reform candidate in Greater Manchester, in one of their strongest heartlands.

Losing to the Greens and Reform in Gorton and Denton not only forced Labour MPs to acknowledge their party’s weakness but revealed how the deeper tectonic plates in British politics are now also on the move.

Our entire political system is now rapidly fragmenting, with the two old parties, Labour and the Tories, facing unprecedented pressure from a new politics.

Look, too, at the national polls.

Keir Starmer is not only the most unpopular prime minister since records began, and incredibly unpopular among his own Labour MPs; but public support for the Labour government has also collapsed, reflecting a broader loss of confidence.

In recent days, Labour slumped to 16 per cent with pollsters Find Out Now, 15 per cent with Verian, and 19 per cent with YouGov. These are truly dismal numbers.

More than one in three Labour voters have now fully decamped to other left progressive parties, mainly the Greens, while Labour is now also being taken apart by Reform in its working-class heartlands.

Alongside the looming financial crisis in the markets, this mounting political crisis will also intensify as we head towards a crucial set of local elections, on May 7th.

According to one academic forecast this week, Labour will lose nearly 2,000 local councillors - more than three in five that are up for election - while Nigel Farage and Reform will gain more than 2,200 and the Greens make modest gains.

It is difficult if not impossible to see how Keir Starmer hangs on after these losses.

Yet it is just as difficult to see how a successor to Starmer from within the Labour ranks, say Angela Rayner or Wes Streeting, would make much of a difference.

Financial markets do not just look at numbers; they look at political stability and the extent to which a government is able to take difficult decisions and do what needs to be done to deal with the underlying structural weaknesses in the economy.

If and when Starmer goes, the markets will inevitably demand major cuts to spending and borrowing, while many will call for a radically different approach to energy.

But none of this will be accepted by the vast majority of Labour MPs who, now faced with a populist Green opponent on their left-wing flank, will firmly oppose what they will no doubt call “austerity” and see as a climbdown from their Net Zero fanaticism.

Amid this chaos, I do not think it is entirely impossible that many Labour MPs will simply conclude that it makes more sense to bring down the Starmer regime and even go to the country than be seen by their own constituents, friends, and family to have to oversee a “right-wing economic agenda” they firmly oppose.

While the next general election does not have to be called until summer 2029, I just do not see how we continue along this path for much longer without the financial markets, alongside voters, calling time on not just Starmer but the Labour government.

Weak growth. Soaring debt costs. Repeated external shocks. And Labour politicians who are obviously unable to inspire public confidence and trust.

Put all these things together and you have the ingredients for something far more serious than a routine downturn or a “difficult set of local elections”.

You have the beginnings of a full-blown systemic crisis. A collapse of public confidence and public trust in not just a prime minister but an entire system.

And when that happens - triggered, for example, by the reaction to an auction in the financial markets, another spike in energy prices, a surge of inflation, another set of dismal growth figures, or a political crisis in and around Number 10 - then things will start to move very, very quickly and much faster than many people expect.

This is why I genuinely believe that an earlier-than-expected general election is already leaving the realm of speculation and entering reality. All the warning signs are flashing red. We are hurtling towards a financial crisis. Our economic model no longer makes any sense at all. And it is not hard to see, in the coming weeks or months, how the markets decide to call time on the Labour government.

As I said at the outset, when Nigel Farage took the stage at a conference last year and predicted a general election as early as 2027, I told him I was sceptical. I just couldn’t see the path to one. But now, I think he was, once again, ahead of the curve …

Suicide of a Nation has just rocketed into the Amazon charts as the sixth most bought book in Britain this week.

It has now entered the realm of Jamie Oliver cookbooks and biographies of Harry and Meghan. It’s sold roughly 10,000 copies in its first week and looks set to become a major reference point in the weeks, months, and years ahead.

Wherever I’ve taken Suicide of a Nation on tour - in recent days to packed-out events in Whitstable, Halifax, Tewkesbury, and Weymouth - it has completely sold out (if you’d like me to speak at an event drop me a line).

The first print run of the signed Founder’s Edition sold out in two hours; the second in one day; and the third and final run of limited copies arrives today.

Once those are gone there really will be no more (order here).

Suicide of a Nation, put simply, is clearly connecting strongly with the country. It’s connecting with the forgotten majority of hardworking, tax-paying, decent British people who have simply had enough of what is happening to the country they love.

But it is also true that the book has faced a frenzied, intense backlash.

While surging into the bestseller charts and sparking enormous debate, the book (and I) have come under an enormous wave of extraordinary and unhinged criticism - much of it from notorious left-wing activists.

As I write in the Daily Mail this morning, my critics are currently hate-bombing the book’s Amazon page with one-star reviews, trying to put people off from reading the truth about what is really happening in Britain.

Others, entirely predictably, claim the book is ‘racist’, ‘divisive’, ‘toxic’, ‘irresponsible’, and ‘incendiary’, when, in reality, it is none of those things.

Calling for an immediate halt to mass immigration, calling to control our borders, and calling to leave the European Convention on Human Rights might all be policies that are loathed by the chattering classes at literary festivals, but they remain very popular among the forgotten majority of hardworking, decent people in this country.

Few of my critics have even addressed my argument about what is happening to the British and the English people, and what will happen in the years ahead.

Most, instead, prefer to seize on what they claim are inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and even the absurd, categorically untrue notion that parts of the book were somehow “written by artificial intelligence” (AI)! It reminds me of when the left used to claim that the only reason people voted for Brexit was because they were duped by big tech.

My critics cannot believe, for example, my claim that in many places in Britain today, such as Leicester, Luton, Slough, and much of London, a majority of children no longer speak English as their main language.

But actually this is true - and the official data, had they bothered to look, proves it.

In Leicester, last year, 56 per cent of children spoke a language ‘known or believed to be other than English’.

In secondary schools, it’s 53 per cent; in primary schools it’s a scarcely believable 59 per cent. In many other areas it is even higher.

While my critics would rather ignore these statistics, and prefer we not talk about them at all, many people look at them with a sense of dread.

What, they quietly ask, are our politicians doing to the country we love?

While I am happy to confirm I analysed some of the data through artificial intelligence (AI), I was careful to check this against the official data sets.

This is now standard in the world of research and critics who claim otherwise, many of whom I note have never conducted a major research study or even written a book, are being disingenuous at best.

We are living in the year 2026 - not 2016. Using AI to assist with research is not the same thing as using AI to write a book — just as using a calculator doesn’t mean you didn’t do the maths. I even include a reference to AI in the book’s footnotes.

In fact, I go even further in the book.

Those same official data sets, such as the latest census, tell us there are now at least a million people in England and Wales who cannot speak English well or at all. One million! Not to mention there are large numbers of people among us who openly refuse to embrace a UK, British, or English identity, which I also discuss in the book.

How is it right or fair that the British people are being forced to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on ‘translation services’ in the National Health Service and other public institutions? And how on earth can we hold a nation together if large numbers of people within that nation do not speak the language, which in turn supports a shared culture, identity, sense of collective memory, and way of life?

Like millions of others, I worry we are now losing these things.

This book - my eighth - comes from years of work — from speaking to people across the country, from analysing long-term trends, from a detailed and robust report and, most of all, from witnessing first-hand the deep and legitimate concerns that millions of people on these islands feel are being dismissed or ignored.

Every claim in this book, every argument, is grounded in official statistics, real-world evidence, and a considerable body of research and experience.

The core demographic projections that I present in the book - showing what will happen to Britain in the years ahead if we do not urgently change course - have been peer-reviewed by well-known and respected expert demographers.

I even recruited the help of a journalist and proof-reader to review the book, with the goal of sparking a major national debate about the demographic changes that are reshaping, or even replacing, the country we once knew.

And I am delighted to see this debate is now happening, from one city to the next, from one town to the next, from one village to the next. And for the next six months, I will be on tour with the book, ensuring this debate happens everywhere.

Now, have a small number of historical references in the book, for example to what the Roman statesmen Cicero and Livy said, in Latin, 2,000 years ago, turned out to be imperfect? Yes. And those will be corrected.

For instance, it appears I was incorrect to suggest that Ancient Rome’s Cicero once said the state should begin “with the people closest to us”. What Cicero actually said was Salus populi suprema est lex, which means the good of the people should be the supreme law of the land. If only we had politicians today who felt the same way.

But this is what we are talking about when it comes to my politically-motivated critics - minor imperfections being used to try and discredit a major argument about what is happening to Britain and what will happen if we do not change course.

Others even complain that I dared to include references to my own Substack articles in the book’s footnotes. Yes, I did - and proudly.

Because this happens to be one of the only newsletters in Britain where you will find detailed, original work on what is actually happening to our population and why millions of people feel so frustrated with the established political class.

Much of this work is not only original but openly counter-cultural. I am proud of it. We have built a serious body of work that openly pushes against the tide in Westminster and the universities. My left-wing critics would not have had a problem had I relied on dodgy, biased articles from The Guardian or the BBC.

Still others have feebly sought to weaponise the fact that I decided not to release it through a mainstream publisher. Yet I did so deliberately.

Because after writing seven books with the established publishers - many of which have been taken over by wokery and ‘sensitivity readers’ - I know for a fact they would have edited, diluted, and censored Suicide of a Nation to such an extent that it would have said nothing meaningful at all.

In the narrow, groupthink world of mainstream publishing, authors are simply not allowed to rail against the broken consensus, especially when it comes to taboo topics such as mass immigration, multiculturalism, Islamism, and the grooming gangs - all of which I discuss at length in the book.

Typically, when you write a book in mainstream publishing it is handed to a young, Oxbridge-educated editorial assistant who often works overtime to dismantle, censor or ‘rephrase’ anything that might challenge the narrow liberal progressive consensus.

Ask yourself: when was the last time you saw a mainstream publisher not just commission but seriously get behind a book that was critical of immigration, or transgender ideology, or Islamism, or made the case for putting the nation first?

What my critics loathe is that I am not only writing against this narrow groupthink but I have also stepped outside the established institutions, meaning I can say whatever I want, write whatever I want, and so cannot be controlled or censored.

So let’s be clear about what’s happening here.

My critics are nit-picking over quotations, footnotes, and publishing because they do not want to engage with the substantive argument of the book.

A book which - unlike any other - shows how and why the disastrous policies of mass immigration, broken borders, unchecked Islamism, sectarianism, and ‘two-tier multiculturalism’ are rapidly destroying what is left of our country.

My critics would rather debate whether a quote is perfectly worded or why I pursued an alternative publishing strategy than confront what millions of ordinary people can already see with their own eyes and feel in their hearts.

We are losing our country.

The white British will soon be a minority. The foreign-born and their descendants will soon become a large majority. Islam is already on its way to becoming the largest and most powerful religion in Britain. There are already millions of people among us who do not speak our language, do not embrace our identity, do not contribute to our economy, and do not even like or respect our way of life. And at the same time the hardworking British majority is finding its free speech and free expression restricted by a political class in Westminster that no longer tolerates dissent.

The British people are not idiots. They can see what is happening around them.

They can see they are being subjected to profound, unprecedented, destabilising, and deeply alarming demographic changes which the politicians in Westminster refuse to acknowledge or manage, and for which there is absolutely no democratic consent.

Nobody voted for Britain and England to be demographically transformed, if not demographically replaced, within the next 74 years. Did you?

So the real question is not whether a footnote or historical quote could have been phrased differently. It is whether the facts and trends I set out in the book are real.

Are many of our communities changing beyond all recognition? Yes. Have our public institutions been hijacked by left-wing activists? Yes. Are millions of British people being treated like second-class citizens? Yes. Is the only majority group that Britain has ever known on track to be replaced within just a few decades? Yes.

This is why Suicide of a Nation is resonating. This is why it has soared to the top of the bestseller charts. This is why tens of thousands of people are already reading it.

Not because of a quote or footnote. But because they recognise the grim reality that I document in the book, its title, and front cover. Our so-called leaders, for reasons I explain, have very clearly decided to commit national suicide.

And I for one think the British and the English people deserve a serious conversation about that reality and whether they want it — not a distraction.

This is why I wrote Suicide of a Nation and this is why I urge you all to read it.

A couple of months ago, I found myself sitting next to an 82-year-old British Jewish lady at an event in North London.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, she turned and said something that I will not forget.

She wasn’t angry. She wasn’t dramatic. She spoke quietly, almost matter-of-factly.

She leaned in and said:

“If Reform does not win the next general election, I think we’ll leave.”

Leave. Leave the country.

Not move house. Not move to a different neighbourhood. Not relocate to a different city. Leave Britain for good. Leave the only home she has ever known.

And the uncomfortable truth is this: I can see why.

Just look around.

This week, in Golders Green — one of the historic centres of Jewish life in Britain — four ambulances operated by a Jewish charity were set on fire in an antisemitic attack, with police already investigating possible links to the Iranian state.

Nor is this an isolated incident - far from it.

Over the past year alone, Britain has seen thousands of antisemitic incidents — assaults, abuse, threats — reaching some of the highest levels ever recorded.

Only last month, the Community Security Trust reported that in 2025 there were some 3,700 cases of anti-Jewish hate across the country - the second highest ever recorded.

Speak to British Jews and they will you, understandably, they feel under siege.

Hate marches on the streets of our capital. A terrorist attack on a synagogue in Manchester that resulted in the death of two Jews. A foiled terror attack that would have been one of the worst atrocities against Jews in recent history.

And, let’s be honest, a Labour government that appears far more interested in catering to the concerns and demands of its Muslim voters than devoting the same level of attention to the concerns and demands of British Jews.

Just think for a moment: have you actually ever heard Keir Starmer, Shabana Mahmood, or any other frontline Labour politician even say the word “Islamism”?

Have you ever heard them speak openly and honestly about the dark forces that are taking root in our country - from Muslim sectarianism in our politics to the fact that three-quarters of all terror-related casework in Britain now involve Islamism?

They appear utterly incapable of talking about the very thing that not only represents the main security threat to our country but is also one big reason why that Jewish lady, like so many others, is now actively thinking about leaving Britain for good.

And here’s another awkward fact that nobody in Westminster ever talks about but which I deal with head on in my new book: the threat facing British Jews will almost certainly intensify as Islam becomes larger and more powerful in British society.

Between today and the year 2100, the share of Muslims in Britain is forecast to rise sharply, from roughly 1 in every 17 people today, to roughly 1 in every 4 adults.

Clearly, not all British Muslims endorse antisemitic views or sympathy for the kind of horrendous attacks and abuse that we have witnessed in recent months.

But as I have already shown in an earlier post, the simple fact is that large numbers of British Muslims are far more likely than the general public to endorse a range of antisemitic tropes and voice sympathy for Islamist terrorists.

Here’s what I wrote back in 2024:

“While we hear much about ‘Islamophobia’ and ‘anti-Muslim hatred’ we hear much less about what surveys point to —significant if not large numbers of British Muslims (including larger numbers of young Muslims) who openly voice sympathy for Islamist terrorists, hold a positive view of Hamas, reject the fact that Hamas committed murder and rape on October 7th, 2023, reject Israel’s right to exist, support crude antisemitic tropes, and harbour a desire to pull back and withdraw from integrating into British society —whether by implementing Sharia Law, clamping down on free speech and free expression, opposing same-sex relationships, supporting the emergence of a separate political party for Muslims, and thinking it’s somehow acceptable to intimidate MPs outside their homes.”

And now, this week, a brand new survey of British Muslims by the respected think-tank Policy Exchange points in the very same direction.

Drawing on large-scale surveys of British Muslims and the general British public, it finds, worryingly, that British Muslims are far more likely to express favourable attitudes towards the regime in Iran - a regime that calls openly for the destruction of Israel, supports antisemitic Islamist terror groups around the globe, and has been linked to terror plots and attacks against Jews in Britain.

Consider just a few of the many shocking statistics from the survey.

While only 8 per cent of British people hold positive views of the fanatical regime in Iran, this soars to nearly 40 per cent among British Muslims. Nearly 40 per cent!

British Muslims are also far more likely than everybody else to think that the strikes against Iran are “definitely wrong”, to express more positive attitudes towards Iran than America and Israel, and are less hostile than the British people towards regimes that openly oppose Britain and the West, such as China and Russia.

While Westminster might not want to talk about any of this, what all this points to is the emergence of a parallel worldview, a very different set of values, and a completely different set of allegiances that sit very uneasily alongside the Britain we once knew.

And the blunt reality is that if the demographic trends that I set out in my new book continue to unfold then, I fear, this parallel worldview will only become far more entrenched and visible.

We have to be able to confront this reality honestly, openly, and without fear.

Because if we do not, and if we do not change course, then many more British Jews will quietly reach the very same conclusion as that lady I sat next to over dinner.

They will begin to leave - and Britain will be a lesser country for it.

My new book, Suicide of a Nation, has been getting a lot of attention. I’ll be discussing the book, live, with our paid and Inner Circle subscribers this week (details to follow).

But in the meantime, some people have been asking about the underlying trends behind the book, including my projections about how Britain’s population will change in the coming years and decades.

The book is anchored in detailed research some of our readers will remember - analysis that draws on the official census and other data from the Office for National Statistics. These data are then used to make projections about the population.

Seeing how rapidly this community of ours has grown, I thought it would be useful to share 5 key points from this research about how Britain -or more specifically England and Wales- will change over the next 74 years, in just one lifetime, between today and the year 2100. Imagine that a white British child was born today, for example. This is what they would witness in their lifetime …

1. White Brits become a minority in 2063

By the time a white British child that was born today turns only 37 years old, the white British will officially become a minority group in Britain.

This will happen as part of a wider trend that is already sweeping through the country and which will see the share of people who are white British fall from nearly three-quarters today to just one in every three people by the end of this century.

The crossover point - the point at which the white British assume minority status - will arrive in the year 2063, if not sooner. It is worth remembering that until the late 1990s the white British basically represented more than 95 per cent of the country.

Of course, this has already happened in a growing number of areas.

As I write more extensively about in the book, White Britons are already a minority in our three largest cities - London, Manchester and Birmingham - as well as places such as Leicester, Luton, Slough and Watford.

In the next few years, if it is not already true, they will also slide into minority status in places like Blackburn, Bradford, Cambridge, Coventry, Crawley, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Oxford, Peterborough, Reading, Sandwell and Wolverhampton.

Then, slightly later, in places such as Hertsmere, Bedford, Bexley, Oldham, Preston, Pendle, Thurrock, Derby, Havering and Bromley.

And then, by 2063, the white British, the country’s historic majority, will officially be a minority in the country overall. It will be profound and unprecedented. And it will also almost certainly change our politics in profound ways, too.

2. This will happen much sooner among the under-40s

The transformation of Britain’s population will be much more noticeable among younger people, who are at the forefront of this demographic revolution.

By the time that white British child born today turns only 24 years old, in the year 2050, they will already be a minority among the under-40s.

By the year 2075, less than fifty years from now, white Britons will comprise only roughly one-third of all young people in the country; then, by the year 2100, roughly one-quarter.

As I write a lot more about in the book, we already see these changes in Britain’s schools and universities. Consider, for example, the school register.

Once, names such as Thomas, Jack, Oliver and Noah dominated the list. By 2023, Muhammad – in the top ten since 2016 – replaced Noah as the most popular boy’s name in the country. Another new entry, in 2024, was Yahya, which also happens to be the name of the man who oversaw the worst massacre of Jews since World War Two.

White British children are already a minority in one in four schools in the country, including almost all of London. In primary schools, for example, White British children already make up only 35 per cent of pupils in Nottingham, 25 per cent in Birmingham, 20 per cent in Leicester, 13 per cent in Luton, 10 per cent in Slough, 8 per cent in Tower Hamlets, and only 5 per cent in Newham.

3. The share of non-whites will rise from nearly 20 per cent today to nearly 60 per cent by the end of the century

At the same time as the white British slide into minority status, over the next 74 years the share of people who are non-white will surge from roughly 20 per cent today to nearly 60 per cent by the end of this century.

As I explain in a lot more detail in the book, if you look around the world then roughly 70 per cent of countries have a clear majority group, while 80 per cent of countries have a majority group that represents at least 40 per cent of their population.

By the end of the century, however, because of the demographic trends that have been unleashed in Britain, mainly since the late 1990s, we will have neither of these things. And that puts us in the same basket as nations such as Sierra Leone and Lebanon in having no clear majority group which anchors and symbolises the nation.

4. The foreign-born and their children will soon represent a large majority of the UK

Between today and the end of the century, the foreign-born and their immediate descendants will go from representing 19 per cent of the country to roughly 61 per cent.

At the same time, the share of people who are UK-born, who can trace their roots on these islands back over a much longer period of time, who have a stronger sense of ancestry, collective memory, and connection to these islands, will collapse from 81 per cent today to just 39 per cent by the year 2100.

In other words, by the end of the century, only 74 years from now, a large majority of people will only be able to trace their roots in Britain back one or two generations.

Politicians try to distract you from this reality, by repeating the same line: Britain, they say, has ‘always been a nation of immigrants’. But this is false.

Between the 1800s and 1921, the share of foreign-born never exceeded 2.5% and was usually closer to 1.5%. From 1951, the share of foreign-born people edged upwards, but remained below 8% until 2001.

What we are witnessing today, with close to 20 per cent foreign-born, is simply unprecedented. What that child born today will witness as they enter their seventies, with 60 per cent of the country foreign-born or the immediate descendants of the foreign-born, will simply be a place that neither we nor our ancestors would recognise.

5. Islam will become much larger and more powerful in the years ahead

Between today and the year 2100, the share of the country that is Muslim will rise from roughly 7 per cent today to over 19 per cent.

This means that by the end of the current century close to one in five of all people in the UK will be following Islam, which will also be higher among the young.

However, what I also model is what I happen to think is more likely - a ‘high Muslim migration scenario’ - where much of the inward migration into Britain from outside Europe and through illegal routes continues to comprise of Muslim migration.

If this happens, then over the next 74-years Muslims will rise to represent more than one in every four adults and roughly one in three young people.

Again, as I discuss in much more detail in the book, this will radically change our population, culture, politics, and way of life. The skirmishes that we are already witnessing with sectarianism, debates about free speech, schoolteachers in hiding, women’s rights, extremism, terrorism, and mass prayer in public places such as Trafalgar Square are, arguably, just the start.

As I said last week during a fiery television debate, if all this is happening when roughly 6 per cent of Britain is following Islam then what will be happening when 26 per cent of the country is following Islam?
